So completed week 5 happy with the 20 minute run. Started w6 on Monday found it really hard slowed to walk before the end of each run. So decided to leave it until today because of the heat. I decided to Repeat the first run of the week. I found the 8 minutes really difficult. I seem to of got into a mind set of this is too hard. Any advice to overcome this?

You’re not the first and certainly won’t be the last, but this run seems to catch everyone out. It’s a bit of a mystery, whether it’s an over confidence thing coming off your first not stop run or doing intervals again, who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway don’t worry about it you’ll be fine, have another go when you feel ready 😊

Week 6 caught me out too, just felt like hitting a brick wall. I took an extra day between runs and slowed down my pace, which seemed to help.

Also, I chose to repeat to odd run in wk6 and wk7 to give me more confidence before moving on.

And today I completed final run of wk9, so keep it up and it will feel great!

Lots of help on the forum, have a read through some of the posts. Don’t be afraid to slow it right down, it certainly helps to control the breathing through the nose and out through the mouth, deep breaths and more oxygen. Try doing 5 deep breaths at a time really slow and controlled, it becomes routine in next to no time. 👍

I found week 6 really difficult and struggled with run 3, but I have done W7R1 this morning and sailed through it, I changed my music to something I hadn’t listened to for ages and everything seem to fall into place.

So don’t worry you can do this, if I can anyone can 🏃‍♀️😊

Running for twenty minutes for the first time instills self belief..........sometimes just a bit too much.........and w6R1 trips up more runners than any other in the plan.

Make sure that you are running at a pace at which you can hold an ungasping conversation with full sentences as you run......if you cannot, you are going too fast.

If any run is tough, just slow down.

Relax and enjoy it and you will be fine.

Thinking I might running too fast I did slow running when I had hurt my calf muscle how it has improved I have maybe increased my speed. Wouldn’t be able to speak can just about get my breath

If you cannot get your breath then you cannot supply your muscles with the oxygen they require, which will mean you will tire more quickly and also increase your risk of aches and pains and even injury.
