About to bare all...

Just done w3r2 and have decided to both weigh and measure myself and post it here. I'm not doing this to lose much weight, more the health benefits (ok I'm fibbing a wee bit about the weight!!). 20 years of living a caffeine lifestyle have left me with heart palpitations, so the caffeine is gone but I still get the odd flutter which I've put down to 20 years of no exercise. So off I go to the bathroom...

Chest 41

Waist 35

Hips 43

Weight 11 stone 13 3/4 lbs

I'm fascinated to see how the exercise affects these measurements. I've already noticed an initial weight gain (W1 I was 11 11, W2 12 5) but this is the first time I have dared to measure myself! Oh dear I have been fooling myself I'm a 14!!

My diet is generally good - muesli for breakfast, apple mid morning, sandwich & yoghurt for lunch & then homecooked dinner. Weekends I do have a few glasses of wine and usually fall head first into a packet of crisps or two!!

By the way, does anyone else now run up the stairs instead of wishing they lived in a bungalow?!?

Good luck with it all, you will need to watch he calories as well as doing the jog/running in order to lose weight....according to evidence on here.....will look out for your progress....

Hi, well done on the lifestyle change and how brave baring all? I have cut down dramatically on the coffee but I need that first one of the day and I will never give up crisps they are my guilty pleasure! I figure eating smaller portions and not picking between meals alongside the running should reduce me in size!! Good luck with it all x

Thank you for your kind wishes. I'm just tucking into a bowl of homemade lentil & veg curried soup, which is easy when i'm off work. I do miss my coffee, but make do with level teaspoons of decaff instead. It's amazing how one cup of real coffee has me a jittering wreck these days!

Running up stairs? I work on level 4 of my building and ALWAYS took the lift. Obvious really - why would anyone contemplate doing anything else? There are labels on the stairs - you know, inspirational messages about lowering cholesterol and all that rubbish. Me? I would joke that there were no messages about the nmber of people who died from heart attacks while climbing stairs.

That was a year ago. Now, what do you think I do? Yep - I still take the lift (:->)

But if I've just missed it, I know not to wait, because it's quicker for me to zip up the stairs. YES - I CAN NOW RUN, SKIPPING BETWEEN EVERY OTHER STEP, BETWEEN GROUND AND FOURTH FLOOR, WITHOUT STOPPING! WAHOOOOOOO

(and feeling so superior to my struggling 18-22 year old students)

Must change my screen name to Mr Smug ...

Wow Malcy - I can't wait to be able to do that (the running, skipping & not stopping bit). I take one of my kids to a gymnastics club in our leisure centre every week and yesterday I walked her down the 2 flights of stairs, and back to reception and was only a teensy bit out of breath, compared to previous weeks where I was puffed out (almost dying from a heart attack climbing the stairs...)
