Learning to tie shoe laces...

Now at 44 I though I knew how to tie shoe laces, but I had to update my 'running' foot wear yesterday as the pair I have used so far have seen too much action, snow, floods and mud to continue in their support role.

Once I had found my new pair of trainers in the bargin basement section of the outlet store and put them on the assistant showed me where I had been going wrong all these years and proceeded to use extra holes and loops in the trainers that I knew nothing about, to tie them up ... my life has just been so innocent when it comes to shoe laces.

So see how C25K gives you so many unexpected experiences in life ... and thats not to mention the squats the assistant made me do in the shop before she would let me buy the shoes.

Whole new life experence :)

My shoes are laced in a way I've never seen prior to running. It seems to work well so before I chuck them, I'm going to have to deconstruct them and learn how they're done.

I got a pair of greepers for Christmas and love them. When I did my Parkrun on Saturday I could see all these people fiddling with their laces, tying, untying, single knots, double knots all sorts. Just gave mine a tug, perfect fit and I know they won't come undone.

I found this YT vid which shows how to fit them and how they work:

I bet that assistant loves making people do squats before they're allowed to buy shoes! Very funny! :)

Now I have learnt another way to tie my laces ... greepers, ..made me nervous thinking about getting scissors near my running shoes, might tempt fate!!

Might need to join the scouts to learn some of this knot tie -ing :)

Greepers look like a rather fussy version of locking laces, which have been a revelation for me and mine.

However, like amsjo, I got useful information when buying shoes on how to thread normal laces - in my case for a snugger fit round the heel (important for me as a woman in men's running shoes) I had wondered what that extra hole was for and now I know. Cunning!
