Has anyone ever suffered from plantitis? Since running a 5k on Sunday I've had this unbearable pain in my left foot. The pain appears to be around the arch and its agony to put my weight on it. Googling it I found it may be plantitis.
Has anyone ever had this? Any idea how long it'll last? Or when I will be able to run again?

Is this like planter fasciitis? I'm sure there's been a bit of blogging about this. Why don't you have a look at the tags? It sounds very painful, hope it doesn't put you out for long!
First off get yourself to the doctor asap for a proper diagnosis as it could go on for ages without proper treatment. I've been suffering from plantar faciitis for 3 months now after running a 10k road race. I'd always trained on park paths and trails in woods before. The doctor said that changing the surface you run on can cause it. In my case I went from running nice soft muddy trails to a solid tarmac road. It's really annoying as I had got up to being able to run for 10 miles. It's just got to the stage now where I felt comfortable to get out again and went mountain biking for the first time since it happened. I don't think I'll be running for another month at least.
If it is plantar faciitis you need to be wearing good supportive shoes. You running shoes are good for this. Freeze a small pop bottle of water. Place it on the floor and roll your foot up and down it.
You will also need to be doing stretches several times a day.
Watch the videos on this website that show you how to correctly stretch but don't buy the medical devices as they are expensive and you don' really need them.
On my last run of the week 8 I had intolrable pain in my right foot, It was diagnosed as plantar fascia, Iv had injections in it which helped, but it has taken near on a year to go . The tendons do not have a good blood supply to them so recovery is very slow , but now Im on week 3 again and being cautious when running. Also I did have a very good pair of trainers, so I cannot blame them.
