Week 2, Run 2.

Up at the crack of dawn so as to get my run in before work. Five runs in I've realised the adrenaline isn't firing in me as it had been, the novelty having worn off, yet the desire to get up and out remains, thankfully. I have my routine pretty sussed now, kit laid out the night before and so was out the door ten minutes later.

Since my second run I've not had any aches the following day and was fine yesterday, however in the warm up walk I felt a bit stiff and was a slightly concerned it might hinder me. I'm glad to say it didn't. The run went okay, tough enough but again, doable. I found that after the later 90 second sections I was struggling to keep a brisk pace in the walks initially but by the end of the two minutes I was well up for the run again. Over all, I'd say it was a wee bit easier (ahem!) than Saturday's first Week 2 run. But not much.

It was a quiet morning again, I only spotted two other runners and no-one else so I think my (imaginary) fan club has either petered out or they were all on the lash last night and couldn't be arsed. So much for going viral, fickle feckers. I really enjoy going out at that time, although Mrs Fingalo doesn't like the idea of me running along the dark and deserted prom and stays awake until I return. You'd never think I am 6' 5" and 16 stone, although she may have a point as, now I think about it, a five year old schoolgirl could probably get the better of me were she cute enough to wait until later in the run.

I've decided not to check out what Week 3 entails until I've completed this week's runs on Wedneday, as I made a balls of it last week and it almost put me off stepping up because for some reason I thought it reversed the first week and I just couldn't see myself being able to do eight 90 second runs with only a minute breather. How relieved I was to find it wasn't as bad as that.

Also I've realised I'll be starting Week 4 the day after I fly home for Christmas and I hate the idea of a new week and having to find somewhere to run, the part of Cork we'll be staying in makes a trip to the Everest base camp seem a better option, I'm not yet ready to run up hills.

Ho hum, first job on the Friday evening will be to pass the pub and scout a route.

Bring on Wednesday!

I love your posts. Mightily entertaining :) I'm sure you will do a grand job hills an' all. Onwards and upwards!

I've a horrible feeling that when you pass the pub in Cork all you'll find is another pub !

It's good to scout them out for after the run!

well done and I am hanging on to your last word as I am one run behind you and am certainly not ready for gentle slopes let alone hills - yesterday ran W2R1 so good to get your comments and gives me an idea as to what is coming! Good luck with W3 - Ihave no idea what that will bring and don't need to yet as think that tomorrows run might be a bit on the difficult side for my legs and heavy body! Scout a run and pass the pub - now that could be really hard!

Cheers guys.

Wybrook is correct, there is certainly no shortage of pubs. However I'll also have to behave myself (a bit) on nights before the runs or they just won't happen.
