Yes, I'm new. Well, nearly new, I'm one run into week 2. Have never run before, always thought my legs wouldn't do what I asked them too. I would appear to have been wrong.

I'm middle aged, asthmatic, anaemic, epileptic and overweight with shin splints already. Is there any hope for me??

Where in the country are you? Are you even in the uk? Good luck :-)

I'm a newbie, hello there :)

I'm totally unfiit, obese and need to start shifting some weight and improving my health. I'd been walking then just driscovered this and it sounds great, so into Week 2 now.

Actually I'm repeating Week 2 as I found my knees were shot after the prompt on the Podcast of landing on the heels, WORST advice I've picked up so far ;) so be careful !!

I agree about the landing on the heels advice. Strange as most seasoned runners advise landing on the midfoot, as if running barefoot. Good luck. :-)

Since it was on the C25K NHS Choices Podcast I thought it would be good advice but after WK2 D2 and 3 my knees were killing and have been all week. So decided to rest up and pump myself full of Ibuprofen for a few days.

Went out this morning and went back to my usual way of walking/jogging which is NOT thinking about my feet and I was comfy again ;)

That heel advice was SO bad for me :(

I was a newbie eight months ago, after 35 years of not doing much exercise, a friend dropped dead a couple of years ago and with two young children decided that it was time to do something. Started with a small circuit of 12 minutes walking , jogging, and a short bike ride. I now run 55 minutes twice a week and an 11 mile bike ride twice a week. The most difficult thing is to keep motivated when you aren't fit enough to run properly, stick with it , stay strong, your body will tell you what you can do, sometimes you will have to hop down the stairs as your calves are solid, if so instead of running every day cut down to every other day. Somebody shouted at me the other day, " I wish I could do that", I replied " you can , I couldn't a few months ago."

I've lost over three stone and feel a lot fitter than I have felt for years.

I'm a newbie! I did my first run this morning. Felt great afterwards but quite achey now. I plan to do a bit of yoga on alternate days. I had a look at the flex and stretch thing too but I don't have enough equipment for the equipment-free workout ;)

I'm not overweight but I am unfit and I'd like to tone up a bit. I'm a bit worried because I haven't run since school about 15 years ago and I got really sore shins then. I've got some (what I hope are) decent running shoes so I hope that will help.

Nice to chat with fellow newbies, hopefully we can cheer each other on.

We were all newbies once! I never believed I'd make it through the programme but I did - and you will too. And yes, that week 2 stuff about landing on heels is way wrong. Trust in Laura - but not on that one.

Hi!

Newbie here too, tried Week 1 Run 1 this morning and couldn't finish it. My aim is to complete an entire run, eventually!

Overweight and very unfit but enthusiastic!

Great to know other newbies out there :D

Hi Carole 1961

I'm almost new to this, I was on W2R2 until I went on holiday and came back with flu:o( I'm dying to get back to it. I have only done 2 runs in about 3 weeks, so it will be like starting again.

Good luck

I'm new too! I have finished week one and, apart from being barely able to walk after the first run, I have found it surprisingly okay. Am trying not to frighten myself by looking at what I have to do in a few weeks! I do my first run of week two on Tuesday and am really looking forward to it :-)

I am so new that I haven't even done my first run yet, lol! I have it planned for later on this afternoon, I am so unfit and so overweight! Im kind of dreading it but looking forward to it at the same time!
