Wk6r2 tomorrow......

Getting a bit nervous about tomorrows run. I tend to run very early before anyone is about, I love having the streets to myself, discounting the slugs, worms, dead rats and baby hedgehogs of course. And I don't know why- maybe because my last run hurt so much, maybe because I did my first yoga class in five years last night and am surprised my knees haven't actually exploded because they certainly feel like they did during child's pose last night.

The other thing that is bothering me is that l have never run without Laura and I've never run at any other time of the day than very early morning. I'm convinced that if I do anything different I won't finish a run- and I'm terrified of not finishing one. I can't believe I have come this far and I am sure that it will only take one hiccup for the whole thing to unravel and I will become firmly entrenched on the couch again.

Am I totally potty?

No you are not potty ...

We are all secure with what we know. Why wouldn't we be? So far Laura has got you through sixteen runs and of course she will get you through the rest till you graduate. You are in your safety zone with her. Laura is your comfort blanket.

It's quite hard for people to change from something that has been working for them. I found it hard to change from mornings to evenings when I got further into my running and began working full time so I didn't have my mornings free anymore. I found it hard to cope with heat in the spring and summer when before I was used to cool autumn and winter runs. I still don't like it, but I'll do it if there is no other option.

179monmou, you CAN do anything you want to do. You've got to W6R2, you are a runner, and you are stronger and more adaptable than you think. There is nothing to stop you doing 30 minutes running to your own music. Nothing to stop you switching times or route. If you want to progress in distance you could get to start on the B210K which is on Andystev (look in the member directory)'s page. That is a coached podcast, which gradually extends you to 10K or 1hr running whatever comes first.

Have mega faith in yourself...I have faith in you - YOU CAN DO IT!

No you're not potty.

Most of us start with enormous trepidation, hoping that this will work. As time goes by and it's starting to work we wonder if it's just a fluke, what if we stumble, will that prove we can't do this and it's only for other people ?

I lost it in week 4, I just couldn't complete the second run but you know what ? I did the run again, it wasn't a failure just a set back. You're doing this for you, only you and faltering is not the same as failing.

You've managed up to week 6 run 1 which I didn't, so go and if you stumble get up again and carry on, you're already better than me. ;-)

Hmmmmm...I know what potty refers to here in the States...if it is the same on your "side of the pond" then you are absolutely NOT potty!!

First, you are going to do perfectly well on your next run!! You are into W6!! If you ask me, your body is now ready for each of the runs that you will do. Now, it is going to become more mental. Now, when your body wants to chuck it all in and stop, it is your minds job to KNOW otherwise!! Even if your body hesitates...you must KNOW that you can do this!! You can...you have...YOU WILL!!

Second, really what will happen if it doesn't work out well on your next run? You will have to come back here and post how it went. Then CaroleC, Chewy, gdeann (she just happens to be my favorite!!) and a few others will slap you around and get you back into proper shape and off you will go again!! After that, a few more runs will pass by and you will have that coveted green badge!! You WILL win!!!

The important part is that you will never have to experience step 2...because you are going to complete your W6R2!! Now, rest up, get your head in the game and KEEP RUNNING!! Tomorrow, post and tell us how well you did!! :-)

Monmou, week 6 was rough for me...in fact, week 6 through week 8! I honestly felt I should be better then I am and in alot of ways I felt deflated comparing myself to others. I now have only one more run left! I know I won't reach my 5K but it doesn't matter. Nine weeks ago I could hardly run 1 minute, now I'm running 30!!!!!! No matter the day ortime, we are always here to offer support and a virtual hug if need be!! BTW: smhall is my hubby and running partner.
