Is anyone joining the gym as winter approaches so they can keep up the running on a treadmill?

Have def considered this, would rather get a treadmill for the garage though as gym not cheap option :(

I'm trying to persuade my husband that buying a treadmill is a good thing. He says they're too heavy to keep upstairs and there's nowhere downstairs to keep one. We've not got a garage. I've said we could keep it in the shed (which is large) if he cleared out some of the never used stuff he keeps in it...

So fingers crossed my eBay searches may come to something.

The nearest gym is further than I want to drive as I have very little spare time

I'm considering joining Pure Gym when the weather gets really cold, you are not tied to a contract & cancel at any time. Come the spring can be back out pounding the pavement. (Gosh I really am being postive thinking forward to next year) :-)

i will just be buying some new running gear and will continue outside. I started last January outside so I know I can do it! If you wrap up warm enough it's fine :)

Yes, joining a gym at the weekend but still want to do as much as possible outside. I'm hoping that a bit of swimming and some other exercises will help my running too.

I am a member of the local council gym but they only have a couple of treadmills so I guess it won't be easy to get on one and I'm not sure how folk would take to me hogging them for my 30 minute plus runs :(

Hope to continue outside but the dark doesn't look great for running. It's starting to concern me how I will continue.

I will continue to run outside too. I am used to cycling through the winter and find if you feel cold, push yourself more and you won't feel cold for long!

I agree with ellerunner, the dark is more concerning for me too as I will be limited to the residential streets where it is better lit and I'm worried I will get bored and demotivated as what I like most about running is going to the fields, river or canal and taking in the pretty surroundings which helps me de-stress from the day's work.

I have a treadmill at home and started the c25k on it, completing the first 4 weeks on it. Have been outside since, except for tonight. Decided I didn't fancy the heavy showers we have had here today. I will keep going out, weather permitting, but it is good to know that I have an alternative.

I am a lucky lady because thanks to our new staff well being initiative at school we have free use of the school fitness suite which includes treadmills, cycles, cross trainers and rowers so I'm pretty much fixed for this winter!

Thankyou for all your very varied comments. Think I am going to join the gym over the winter & do 2x runs weekly & 1 x run outside.
