Hi, just about to venture on the c25k,very ner... - Couch to 5K
Hi, just about to venture on the c25k,very nervous about it, not got a treadmill so will have to be outdoors. How do I keep th motivation up?
What were your reasons for doing it?
Outside is best! Much more interesting but start with your reasons for starting.
Good luck and welcome on board the good ship "runnersobsessive"
What Greg said. Much better in the great outdoors.
Motivation is what we do! Just keep telling us how you get on. The othe 2000! of us will do the rest. Well, some of the 2000 anyway.
Hi Jimbob. I just did my first run today (on the treadmill, but next one will be outside). Only joined this site just over a week ago, then went on holiday, but have already found the members to be really encouraging and full of useful tips. I think motivation is partly a personal thing (why do you want to do this?) and partly having the support of people who understand the challenges and the reasoning behind your decision to start c25k. You will find plenty of the latter here. For the former, I personally find something I recently discovered online a good motivator - if I can find out how to post a picture (maybe on my blog?), I will share it. But health and wellbeing are major motivators for me. Best of luck with your personal c25k and I look forward to reading how you get on.
Thank you, I shall keep you informed of my progress.
Hi Jimbob,
Don`t worry about motivation, you`ll probably be addicted within a few weeks
I`ve never run on a treadmill so can`t compare, but I love getting out and try to run in nice places.
Keep logging on here, it`s great for motivation.
We have all been where you are and some of us are just a few weeks ahead of you.
Good luck
Good luck, Jimbob! Once you start, you will want to conquer each run and that will be motivation in itself - the first step is the hardest (or so they say)! I started on the treadmill, but think outside is better - more distractions, less clock-watching. Keep us posted!
Well i did wk 1 run 1, hard work but loved it. well pleased with myself, thankyou for the motivation
All the best with it jimbob. Just listen to Laura and do what you are told! She really knows what she's talking about Maybe choose somewhere flat to run if you can to start with, and take a small bottle of water with you. I love running outside as it's much more interesting. I found once I'd done a couple of weeks, I was really looking forward to each run - and I never thought I'd feel that way about exercise. Go for it, and keep us posted.
Thankyou Paulet
I am looking forward to it now, I have my running shoes ready and i am taking a small bottle of water like you suggested. Will keep you posted
Hello jimbob.I just started the program yesterday and today is my off day,I would be interested in going thru this together with you and compare notes and such if this is something you would be interested in drop me a pm if that's even a option here,i just started learning how to navigate around here.Best of luck.
i will let you know how i get on, i have only just joined yesterday and will start my 1st walk/ run this evening.
where did you hear about this. someone at work told me all about it on the nhs website. think its great idea to get up and have a go. especially as i have never really been able to run before. will give it a good go
I found it online it was mentioned on a Vegetarian forum i visit, and tomorrow will be my second run of week one, just my second time out.Glad you did good it damn near killed me but lugging around 70lbs of extra body fat and smoking in the past for 30years did not help the situation out.
No phones ringing? I had a complicated call from my son's school whilst running...
