...Newbie, here, both to site and exercise. I posted after my first run as ached so very much and received some really helpful answers BUT;

It's now 2 days after my first run and I'm still aching...So, do I wait for the aches to completely subside? Or, Do I push o through it? I don't want to do more bad than good...but am really keen to get on.

Thank you

Can you tell if it is muscle aches or actually pain indicating an injury? In no way am I an expert, but I know personally I had aches and pains through the first few weeks. I still ache a bit after a run but usually by the next day I'm okay. Maybe try and give it a go...just remember, there is no such thing as to slow...better to go slow then to risk injury and not to finish. Wishing you well!!!!

Thanku, yes, am sure it's muscle aches and sore shins! Body probably went into shock...

I'm probably reading too much and comparing myself to others; we are all different eh?...

I agree with gdean. Have another go but take it slowly. I'm sure you will find this next run slightly better. It does take a while for your body to get used to exercising. Remaber to stretch afterwards & in the evening perhaps have a nice long bath (if time allows) to relax your muscles!!!

I forgot to mention stretching! I do nothing fancy, but I stretch for a few minutes prior to the run. Seems to help loosen those muscles up!

I recommend stretching after the run to elongate your muscles, also I find that after a shower, running the shower cold on my legs can help. Good luck.

Right folks, made it through the second run and have to say it felt a little easier. Came home and did a few stretches and really gave my legs a good rub. I also did the cold water tip too, so thank you. It's definitely made me realise how unfit I am but on the plus side I'm already looking forward to Run 3!

Really appreciate your advice so thank you...

Phil72, I had never heard of the cold water on the legs. I think I am going to try it. THANK YOU!
