Had to run without Laura's dulcet tones tonight (don't ask, IOS 6 update on my iPhone broke the Podcasts app), so I had to resort to running to random songs instead. Best one for me was "American Girl" by Tom Petty.
What's YOUR favourite running song???
(Let's see how many nominations we can get :-)).

This song was played constantly when I was skiing this year so it reminds me of whizzing down slopes (well, that's what it felt like to me though I was prob snail's pace compared to the pros!); it really gets my adrenaline going!
Tee hee... no sorry. (Though strangely that is my favorite christmas song. ) I meant Alesha Dixon's. Fires up my backside near the end of the run when I am flagging. And to start with the run, Eliza Doolittle's 'Pack up'. It's my happy song. My normal playlist will never do for running.
Sissor Sisters - Ta-Dah Album - I Don't Feel Like Dancing
Ooh
She's My Man
Sam and the Womp - Bom Bom ... I will now go and hang my head in shame and repeat "I am 40 years old and should not be listening to songs like this at my age". One day I *will* be cool ... one day!!
I'm still faithfully listening to Laura at this point, but as I always finish the podcast before I get home, I put Florence and the Machine - Dog Days are Over on for the final few minutes' walk. It has become a tradition to put this song on as my post run song and I now do it each time (I've heard it's a good one to run to as well). I'm really looking forward to making my own playlist though!
oooh I'll give that one a go. I usually have 5 minutes or so left to get home when I run out of podcast and I have Florence on there too. I usually end up with Muse or Foo Fighters.
Ditto Roller Toaster, I'm not at that stage yet but already thinking about what I might use. Great thread by the way, I'll contribute in a couple of weeks
The first playlist I made up was 31 minutes plus one warm up song and one cool down song total 38 minutes duh!! I now have my jogging playlist which is 2hrs 30 minutes which I play in shuffle mode which means I've plenty to listen to and different each time so I don't get fed up listening to the same old stuff. When I think about it I've almost enough for a HM huh thats not going to happen.
I'm still using the podcasts but I deviated a bit last Saturday and had fun running to River deep, mountain high and Proud Mary (Tina Turner) and Kate Nash's Foundations and Mouthwash are surprisingly good to run to, tempo wise.
This is my morning task today; to make a running playlist ready for my 28 and 30 minute runs. Some of the suggestions on here are great!
Hi Hickeypa, what a great post. It's good to see what others are listening to, and get inspiration at the same time.
I listen to Kanye West Jesus Walks and Eminem Lose Yourself while I warm up and do stretches. Not my usual musical style but I love the beat on these two tracks, they have a good bpm and get me feeling warmed up, lively, and ready to run!
At the moment I just listen to my very heaving, desperate breathing, try and block out Laura's musical choice, and pert my ears when I hear Laura's voice.
I struggled to hear Laura properly today what with my breathing plus the howling wind and rain. Wk5 R3 done today, it'll be sometime before playlists can smoothe the absolute effort.
Two tracks I would never have discovered had it not been for running and which are perfect 'in the zone, floating alone barely aware you're running' songs: Children by Robert Miles and We Are the People by Empire of the Sun.
