Easy to fall off the wagon...

I completed W7R2, running faster and longer than R1 but had a full week, plus hours of overtime and a wedding to go to in Dublin at the weekend.

Needless to say when I got back on Sunday there was not a chance in this world that I was going out running. Problem is this week that I am off on holiday on Sunday. (Sounds like I am a jet setter but the trips just fell within a week of each other !!)

I've had a day off cancelled on Thurs so am hoping to get a run in tomorrow. I'm thinking of trying to run for 28 mins tomorrow to see if I can do it.

I know its just excuses and I am really starting to enjoy the running but working shifts is a real pain as I cannot get in to any kind of weekly rythme, some weeks the runs fit in perfectly and others it is a struggle just to get two in. The longer weeks especially are really tiring so the last thing you feel like is going for a run.

Think I've only noticed that is become a problem now the runs are getting longer as they take up more time and energy. Still I am determind to finish the plan, I always knew that the end of last week / this week were going to cause a slight hiatus but if I can get two runs in this week then I shall come back from hols feeling refreshed and ready to graduate !!

You sound so determind, I'm sure you will do it. I've got the luxury of time at the moment, not working:( Has to be one perk I suppose. Good luck ;)

Thanks for your support, felt better once I'd got my rant off my chest !! Good luck with your plan, how are you finding it ?

Good to have bit of a rant! It's my second time around for the plan; graduated in March just before I got married and it all went bit wrong! Days passed into weeks and before I knew it I hadn't run for 3 months! So back on it and loving it even more because I know I can do it! Good luck again to you ;)

I work strange shifts and am just about managing to fit the programme in with my life (though it does usually mean doing 2 runs on consecutive days). I'm only on W4, so it will be great (and an inspiration for me in a couple of weeks) if you let us know how you get on. i'm sure you'll work it out. Good luck!

Fitting it around the shift work is hard. Up until this week I have managed 3 runs a week but I know that as the runs are longer now there are going to be weeks where I might only manage 1 run but I'm not going to beat myself up.

I'm taking my kit away on holiday and will try and get a few runs, then throw myself back in to the plan when I get back. Only two more weeks (technically) to go !!

Thanks for your support, don't say youre only on W4, that is an achievement, you've been running a whole month !!

ca66ie99, you get right back up on that wagon!! :-) Just keep running and fit the runs in as and when you can. Unless you're a teenager you'll probably need more time between the longer runs anyway. Two runs in a week sounds fine to me, I'm sure you'll be fine and get your green badge in a few weeks.

Good luck and enjoy your holiday - you're taking your running kit, aren't you? :-)

Definately not a teenager !! I felt better after I'd put that on paper. Figured that I've gone from no running to running 3 times every week for 2 months which is pretty good.

With my shifts there are always going to be the odd week which I simply cannot fit the runs in so I'm not going to beat myself up. I will be taking my kit with me, a friend of mine is going who loves running so I think she is going to beast me to 5k whether I like it or not !! Thanks for the kind words ;-)
