Oh dear, George, you seem to be having a run of events conspiring to prevent you walking or running. 14K is a long walk home at the end of the day!
Today I jumped on my bike and cycled for 4i km. I went from home along a very minor road in Strathglass. There was very little traffic, but what traffic I did meet was big. I had to get off my bike and pull my bike into the verge. There were a couple of timber lorries and several vans for the construction companies building the (controversial) Beauly-Denny power line.
Half way along the strath I crossed the river and headed back, but as the sun came out at that point I took a 10 km return trip detour into Glen Strathfarrar. The glen is lovely and has a locked gate barring all vehicles except the few crofters, SSE going to the hydro-power station, and a limited number of anglers and hillwalkers who get permission to enter. I would have liked to cycle further up the glen, but I knew I still have 15 km to go once I returned to the main road in Strathglass.
That is one mighty long walk home. I bet you were ravenous and ready for food as soon as you stepped out the bath. Well done doing this your ankle that is not 100%.
Well done you! I managed a 5k run today. Plan to cycle tomorrow as start new meds on Thursday which may halt my challenge (but hopefully not) so trying to accumulate ks.
I did feel pretty good for the most part doing this, apart from the time and my feet this was actually a pretty easy walk. Before I did the C25K this kind of effort would have been the stuff of fantasy.
It really is such a good programme, it builds you up for undertaking so many other things.
You're right, George42 - it's all exponential. The more you do, the more you can do and before you know it, you're doing more than you ever would have believed possible.
