Getting somewhere.....?

Week 3 run 3 completed!

A mixed week including my best run (r1) and one of my worst (r2).

Had a peek at what's to come on week 4. This week I was running a total of 9 minutes. Next week it'll go up to 16. That's quite a leap. I'm scared.

I'm also worried that my level of fitness is not corresponding to the level of exercise. Meaning that I'm scared it'll get harder and harder each week and I won't be able to keep up. So far I've managed every run albeit being overtaken by the odd squirrel and wheezing like a knackered squeezebox!

Does anyone else around this week still pant and sweat and shuffle like I do? I'm being good with rest days and not overpushing myself. And I am still amazed I've managed to get this far. Does it get easier? Am I just being silly and having a little crisis of confidence?

I am looking forward to the coming challenges. I just hope I'm up to them...

I won't tell you it gets easier. But each week you just manage to do it. The best thing is to not look too far ahead and scare yourself. Each week builds on the previous week, make sure you have 1 or 2 days break between runs and you'll be amazed how well your body copes with the next stage.

At least you only get overtaken by squirrels, they are quite fast you know :) Keep it going you're doing so well. I have to say that I was seriously worried about Wk4, but it does appear to be getting.... er I won't say easier, but certainly manageable. And I still look like a boiled lobster after I've finished so don't worry about it, you're not the only one ;)

Panting - Check

Sweating - Check

Shuffling - Check

Yep, I do all of those at week 4 - You'll be fine.

(oh and well done on week 3).

It was so reassuring to read your blog this morning because you had written everything I'm feeling as I'm starting w4 later today too. I'm amazed how nervous I feel about it. I've managed the previous 3 weeks..... Just! but was always ready to stop when Laura told me to! This community is so supportive and most people have felt like us but manage to get through each week. Believe in the programme and we will succeed. Stay positive, I'm sure most of the problem is being mentally prepared! Good luck and let us know how it goes, you CAN do it!

WE can do it!

What I've gleaned from reading many of the blogs is, Stick to the plan. It WILL work.

It's been tried and tested and has set many previous non-runners on the path to a permanently fitter lifestyle.

One of the things I love about this forum is the positivity it generates. Everyone here has this shared experience. Everyone wants everyone else to succeed and will always offer support and reassurance when needed.

I don't think I would have stuck with it this far without it.

So thanks for your comment and your empathy. One of many instances that spur me on to continue.

We will all do this together! :)

I feel so much better reading all of this! I'm starting w3 tomorrow and my knees and ankles are really sore and I'm worrying I'm just not up 2 it, but I feel better when I know others doubt their ability to keep going, yet everyone seems to get there in the end! I shall keep going, too! :-)
