Hi, please tell me that a pain under my knee will just wear off! I graduated beginning of July, hit and miss runs since and 21/2 week break on hols. Ran 5k saturday parkrun and 5k last night. 'tightness' just under kneecap that intially I 'ran off' then little niggly at the end and this morning it aches and is tight, but can walk normally. Could do without this just as Im about to up my pace/speed with the C25K+!!

If I was you, knowing what I now know, I would listen to my body. Your knee is telling you it is stressed. What about concentrating on strengthening your muscles around your knee with weights or something. I really wouldn't up your pace just now. I am no expert I only know the consequences of running through pain and ignoring niggles. Hope it gets better soon.

Thanks, I will look at strengthening exercises and keep to basics for now.

Definately recommend listening to your knees, but wondered if the pain was to below and towards the inside, if it is it could be your muscles, rather than the knees. Also as you've had a little break it could be you muscles shorting after building back up. Do you do any stretches when you cool down to elongate your muscles. Just a thought. Good luck and take care:-)

Thanks but the pain in underneath, but agree that I need to build it up after my rest, but felt guilty! I have done some basic stretches but looks like I need to do more.

Pain behind the kneecap like a band going across? I had this a month or so ago, my trainer at the gym said it was probably the ITB (cant remember what it stands for) and advised some specific stretches (including crossing one leg in front of the other then bending as if to touch your toes, then swapping to cross the other leg in front and bend - its a really good calf type stretch too), ice and ibuprofen. And rest if needed for a couple of days - ITB injuries can get quite serious if you force your body to run through the pain. Google it, there's lots of info and advice. Mine is fine now, plenty of muscle aches and blisters but no more kneecap pain! Bit of tlc and you'll be fine :-)

Yes it does feel like a band, so I will do some research and stretches and strengthening! I just feel I need to sort it out before it gets worse and stops my jogging! Thanks
