Am on Week 6 and no complaints - am absolutely loving it, just one tiny thing --- I feel much sleepier than usual. I am sleeping very well at night, but am feeling kind of dozy during the day. I am perfectly healthy and sporty hubby says it's the lactic acid building up in my body. Does anyone else feel the same?
Anyone else feel sleepy?: Am on Week 6 and no... - Couch to 5K
Anyone else feel sleepy?
I felt exactly the same during weeks 6&7 and the start of week 8. I seem to be past it now though, so I think it is just a sign that we are being quite demanding on our bodies and they are hinting that they need a bit more time to rest and recuperate.
Join the club Delialtaly, I have a siesta every afternoon it must be this old body of mine, But I think Legion's right Pat
Perfectly normal - I was very tired after week 6 (actually still on week 6 because of a virus but that is another story) Your body undergoes significant physical changes when you start running including increased glycogen storage and water and your blood volume increases. Make sure that you are not trying to run too fast - one of the post graduation pod casts concentrates on increasing speed. However, if you continue to feel tired consider if your iron levels could be a bit low.
Thanks RhonaL - no chance of running to fast, but for me this is a real change in life style. No wonder I'm tired!
hi Deliaitaly
once the running times got longer I started to feel more and more tired during the day.....so I took two days rest in between - not every time - just enough to get through..... now I've graduated I don't feel so exhausted... its just your body adjusting....
Thanks SarahR, I think you're right. I'm actually feeling better today (a rest day) and the temperature has dropped by 10 degrees which will hopefully wake me up even more. I don't want to take too many 2-days' rest periods because I travel a lot for work and I want to save them for neccessity, if you see what I mean.
I've been feeling the same, and am running W6R3 tomorrow. In fact I fell asleep on Friday at the wheel of my car! Thank goodness I was driving really slowly on a single track road and the noise of me coasting into the hedgerow woke me up with a start! I do a lot of walking but it's not strenuous so this program has given my body a real shock
Take care carolinew. I actually feel OK today but like you have the dreaded W6R3 tomorrow too ... quite a muddy slippery run yesterday ....looks like we'll be graduating around the same time Fingers and toes tightly crossed, of course.
