Well done you, congratulations! I graduated about 2 weeks ago and have been aiming to continue to run for 30mins 3 times a week. I miss the structure of the plan though and already finding it harder to stay motivated. A friend suggested I do the bridge to 10k but having 3 small chilren at home I don't have the time. Maybe it is something you could try??

Welll done on graduating, it is a great feeling and a great achievement!

So you have graduated .......Brilliant.......well done.........But and not for one minute do I belive that for the rest of your life you are going to only run for 30 minutes, 3 times a week!!!! ..........Just kidding. I can tell you now having only graduated about 6 weeks ago you will want to run further which means you will take longer but guess what it wont matter because you will make the time up one way or another. Remember not so long ago running for 60 seconds and thinking you could run another 60. Well sadly before long you will be running 30 minutes no trouble and guess what Yep.... your going to get bored and eventually it will become so easy that you wont even bother going out for a run BECAUSE YOUR SO BORED!!!!! Just think, you can now run 5K, just add 3 minutes to your runs for the next 10 weeks and guess what youve run 10K. Please dont get me wrong I appreciate you find it a little time consuming but this is YOUR TIME so make time for yourself and just think what an inspiration you will be for your children, before long they could be joining you sadly when that happens its no longer YOUR TIME but THREE TIME as well!!!

Whatever the future holds carry on running and enjoy yourself

Thanks this is very helpful

Well done, I'm sure you've been smiling :-) As you don't have the time to run for longer, why not consider working on you 5k time, using either the new podcasts or consider doing the intervals again, but this time fast run / slow run instead of run/walk. Also if you haven't already, try different routes, go explore your local area, it's amazing what you see when out running that you wouldn't normally see.

Thanks your comments are very helpful. I'm so pleased I treated myself to a runners waterproof jacket. I am begining to believe I am a runner. Congratulations on your graduation

Well done, you should be proud..

The new podcasts are one way to carry on, they werent available when I graduated so I just tried running a bit longer each week for a few weeks, then started doing parkruns now and again.

Then as I was feeling a bit like I might lose my mojo I signed up for a 10k run and downloaded a training plan from Runners World website to prepare. I have done 1 x 10k race but and am doing another in a few weeks, working on improving my time a little (am quite a slow runner).

This morning, to celebrate my 51st birthday I chose to get up at 6.30 am, and after a quick cuppa and a banana, drove up to the forestry (afan argoed) and did a 10k circuit (mostly gentle incline but two sections of steep drop and climb) with my two happy dogs, before having a well deserved bacon bap and coffee at a cafe overlooking the beautiful valley I had run around.

A year ago I could hardly run for my train to work in the morning!

This plan is the beesknees!

Thank you. Having made it this far I hope I can continue to improve. I'd so love to do a 10K run. You must be so proud
