Well I just read the plan (and typed it up so I can cross off the runs and see how close I am to my goal). Then I download the podcasts - much easier than trying to time yourself as you go. Laura just tells you what to do when! Then take the plunge and go for your first run - W1R1 as they call it round here. I only started today and I was scared and yes, it was hard but I loved it! I feel so proud of myself. Just getting off the couch and doing something is an achievement for me.

I'm glad I spent the ££ and got some decent running shoes as that really helped and would advise you doing the same if you haven't already. Other than that, just listen to your body and don't over do it. Good luck :)

Brilliant, spot-on advice from Fraz. :) Put the podcasts on your mp3 player or phone, get your running kit on (supportive trainers/running shoes and comfortable clothes), switch on podcast 1 and follow Laura's advice. She will tell you exactly what to do, when to walk, when to run etc. In just a few short weeks you will be amazed at your progress. Best of luck. :)

once youve decided youre interested i would just take the plunge - try not to think about it too much. after hearing about the plan via my sisters mate i looked at the plans and bought myself a mp3 player and downloaded the podcasts. it took me a week from there to go and do my first run. being a complete beginner to running I went out in my old scruff clothes - i had a pair of lightweight 3/4 leg sports trousers from when i used to do kayaking before my daughter was born and i went out in a t shirt and my old gym trainers. once i got into week 2 and i knew i didnt hate it (!) i went out and bought some proper runnign shoes

go for it :) youll be fine . ive surprised myself (and my husband) that ive stuck with it.

I agree with totalbeginner - don't stress too much about getting new properly fitted running shoes etc for the first little while - just get out there and do it!

I had the most rubbish little MP3 player, an old maternity top to hide anything that should have been hidden, shoes from years ago etc.. I promised that when I reached a certain stage I'd get some new gear and that kept me going for a good few weeks.. Now I'm a 'runner' but I still haven't got around to the new gear!
