How long before I start losing fitness?

Morning, after graduating last month and doing a few weeks of consolidating runs in the last 2 weeks I’ve only managed 1 run! It’s been so hectic, my mums in respite so have had an extra 2 dogs to look after , have also had a week away myself and was too hot to run! I’m gutted! Will I still be fit enough to run 30 mins or so? Hoping to get out tomorrow if I can find someone to look after my son with Tourette’s and Anxiety who is currently attached to my hip! 😂 roll on next week !

Apparently it’s 2 weeks before you start losing fitness. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Have fun tomorrow! Even if you don’t manage it, you’ll do it again soon 👍🏽

I think you're already under a lot of pressure. So go out go slow and enjoy your run you'll be ok . Good luck 😊😊

First of all, congratulations on graduating! You’re under loads of pressure at the moment so don’t put yourself under any more by worrying about how far you might be able to run. The general consensus is that after 2 weeks you start to lose some fitness but, hey, what have you got to lose - take it slow and head out to do 30 minutes and just see how you get on. I bet the first 10 minutes will be grim and you’ll be wondering why you got into this - but I bet after that you’ll be happy to keep toddling on! Good luck and don’t forget to let us know how you get on!

Well done you! In this heat it’s not easy but you’re doing it! Hope you get out again soon!

I'm not long back from a 2 week break where I did no running (too hot at 42 degrees and I didn't run for nearly 2.5 weeks), my first run was a slowish run to the W5R3 podcast just to get me back into it, I then went back to 30 minutes as everything went fine.

That’s encouraging as I’m about to go off for a fortnight to Italy and where we are going is not a running friendly environment according to a Strava contact!
