Anyone been to a.sports therapist? If so, has it helped you?
My boss sent me to his sports physio a few years ago when I'd hurt my back and was struggling to walk or to move from sitting to standing and vice versa. I few manipulations and crunches and I was fixed, just a dull ache for a day or so. Needless to say, I was rather impressed.
I'd go on personal recommendations if you possibly can.
I've just made an appt for Monday to sort my ankle & knee. I'm just worried that she may say never to run again. I would be absolutely gutted if she does. Thankyou for your reply.
If you're seeing a sports therapist they are more likely to want to find the best way to get you running again - whereas a GP might be more inclined to just say have a rest and take some painkillers. If they do think you need a break from running, they should be able to recommend alternative exercise to do in the meantime. They should also try and identify the cause of the problem so you can try and avoid a repeat injury. If you can get hold of a copy of the current (September!) issue of Runner's World it has a lot of information about sports therapists and might give you an idea of questions to ask and what to expect etc.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.
Thankyou sfb350. Very encouraging reply. Will grab a copy of RW tomorrow.
