Graduated - If I did it so can you

Well I jogged 30minutes for 3 times last week so have officially completed the Couch to 5K programme. I have jogged once since and will be again tonight and feel pretty damn amazing. I weigh 18.5 stone and used to despise jogging. I am officially converted and if I can achieve this then anyone can. I genuinely did not think I could achieve this at the beginning and have had quite a few 'wobbles' along this confidence building journey. I took a total of 14 weeks to complete the programme so even if you have a few setbacks keep going, I can promise it will be worth it.

You are awesome, well done :)

Congratulations! You are an inspiration! I just finished week two, which I'm amazed at, because I'm very overweight. I'm nervous about running three minutes straight next week, but everyone says just trust in the programme, so I'm trying to do just that! Well done, and I look forward of hearing of your post-graduate progress! 😊

Thank you, you will do this too. It is not that long ago I was the same as you. As I am jogging I look at my route and remember all the points I had to run to each week and every time thinking I won't be able to do this but I did. I really mean it, if I can then anyone can as I lack self-motivation and am a big girl. Enjoy every milestone and don't beat yourself up for the wobbles, it really is worth the effort :-)

Thank you for this inspiring post....I too am overweight and never thought I would do it (especially this morning) but my husband, sister & children are all so proud of me which makes me keep going. My husband even admitted he did not think I would stick with it....but I will and I will graduate too.. :D

Congratulations! What a fabulous post. This is what everyone starting c25k should read :) especially "I genuinely did not believe I could achieve this at the beginning". How many graduates are reading this and going "I know!, I know, Me too!!" And calling it a "confidence building journey" - a perfect tag- line. That is such a huge part of the programme. Enjoy all your post graduate running and thank you for such an inspirational post :)

I have just signed up for the Couch to 5K today and am totally daunted by the thought of running 5k, but you have inspired me! I'm about 5 stone overweight and ready to give it a proper go now :)

Thank you. Well done on making that first commitment, you can do this just take one jog at a time and you will be surprised at how quickly the weeks go. There will be ups and downs but just remember why you started this and the feeling when you achieve each goal :-)

"Running 5k"

Actually, you'll learn that the objective is to run for 30 minutes 3 times per week. The distance that you cover is not important. At no point during your C25K adventure should you be concerned about speed, pace or distance. Only the time is important.

You have the rest of your running life to work on those other metrics.

Welcome to this lovely community. Post often.

What a fantastic post and reading through the replies above - inspiring to those at the start of the journey. A friend recently told me that if you continue with anything for 12 weeks, it will become a habit. Guess you have a new habit but a healthy one 😀😀

I don't have a habit by the way - I'm addicted as confirmed by my hubby 😂

What an inspirational post, thank you. I have hustled completed w2 r3 early this morning as the sun was coming up over the park, lovely. Now it's on to w3 r1 next and I really don't know how I will be able to run for 3 minutes. All these amazing comments keep me going and encouraging that even I may be able to this. Thanks everyone
