Today I completed the Graduation Run.,It has been an amazing 9 weeks, I have gone from struggling to run for a minute, to running non stop for 30 minutes. My weight has changed for the better, my shape has changed for the better and definitely my fitness has improved.
My husband has been a keen runner for many years and I always go and support him and I am proud of what he achieves especially getting PB's but I really didn't understand the buzz of the running. I would watch the ones so fast, striving to be first, which I could understand. I would watch the one's coming somewhere in the middle with so much stamina enjoying their moment but I didn't get the ones at the back who were struggling red faced to plod to the finish line. I used to think why are they putting themselves through that when they could be at the side clapping the others like me (HOW WRONG I WAS).
BUT I NOW HAND ON HEART TOTALLY GET IT.
Running gives you such a buzz, and soon I may take the challenge of doing a 5k run, (did I really just say that), I will be the red faced one plodding at the back, but who cares, I'm a runner now, its not about being fast, it's about getting out there and doing it and being proud of what you can achieve.
I could not have done it without the help of Laura and NHS C25K which I'm now proud to say is my running club. Thank you to all you members of this wonderful club, who have given support along the way.
It may be the end of the 9 weeks but really it is just the beginning, well done to everyone starting this programme and well done to everyone graduating or have already graduated.
THANK YOU EVERYONE
p.s to Usain Bolt, I will now proudly hand you your legs back,(as per one of my earlier blogs) they have done me proud over these last few weeks and I promised them back before the Olympics. i will now be using my own. Thank you.
