What a brilliant day. I was lucky enough to be part of the London Winter Run without taking part. I've been going for the last three runs, two as a spectator and one as a runner and every time I go it blows me away. 20,000 people running around central london surrounded by polar bears and an excited crowd.
Over the years I've met many lovely people from here and it's always great to catch up with them and be there to cheer them over the finish line. Then go and have a chat in a warm pub.
The first year I went I wasn't close to running 10km and wondered if I would ever be able to. The next year I ran 10km in training for my HM which I did in May of that year.
If your trying to decide if events are for you or not I urge you to go and spectate, they are infectious and contagious,. It's so hard not to get wrapped up in the pure joy as you watch someone run across the finish line with a total look of disbelief about what they have just done. There are the speedy ones and boy there were some of those today. I think the first ones over came in at 22-23 mins!!! For 10km (Who really runs that fast?) then there is the rest, just running with all there hearts.
It's a great morning out and as usual I had a absolutely fantastic time meeting up with everyone,.
