Jogger or runner ?

At which speed i should stop being considered a jogger and become a runner ?

I jog ( or run) between 7.5 and 8.5 km/hr. I am a jogger or a runner ?

:-)

I dont think it is a question of speed - or lack of (as in my case!). You are a runner if you consistently/regularly go out running.

This quote??

"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run."

I Googled that quote and it led me to a couple of very interesting sounding books by John Bingham ('No Need For Speed' and 'Running For Mortals') which I hope to get hold of, and might be of interest to other c25kers. :)

Or you could get technical about it maybe? I don't think there is a technical class of motion called jogging. If you have the patience to watch the 50k walk in the Olympics and see anyone unfortunate enough to be disqualified it will likely be because they are running!

Something to do with feet, if you always have one foot on the ground you are walking, if there is a period where you have both feet off the ground you are running. Something like that anyway. But whatever the detail there are rules and official definitions and they don't use the term jog....

So, you are either walking or running, that's it no other option :-D

I think saying you are a "jogger" is just self-deprecation 8-)

You are a runner no need for false modesty, shout it out loud! You have worked hard for it.

Im sure I read somewhere that under 6mph is jogging & over 6mph is running. personally I come in as a fast jogger :) & occasionally a slow runner (with the wind behind me & going downhill )

In my head I'm a jogger, if I'm speaking to anyone, I'm definatly a runner.

my running speed is sometimes the same as my brisk walking speed but i am still a runner! in the same way a writer is someone who writes and if we are being really technical....what makes a bed and breakfast a hotel :-/

feel proud and call yourself a runner, :-)

Fantastic guys ! Thank you so much for all your answers.

..... and you know what ? Now I am fully convinced I am a runner !

Greg, I just love your replay, you are always so positive in your answers! Thanks to be part of this community ! :-)
