Week 1 Run 2 - Maybe a little harder?

Did second run of first week on Tuesday and found it a little bit harder? I don't really know why, perhaps the initial enthusiasm has run out a bit and I am now realising that I have a long way to go in 9 weeks. Stamina-wise it was pretty good and feel I could do more. I have a dodgy ankle that I keep on 'going over' on and it was aching the day after but seems to have settled down today. Probably a stage I need to go through whilst parts of my body get used to being more active. Doing week 1 run 3 tomorrow, not sure I can stand that music again but loving the fact that I am not looking at watch every couple of minutes, Laura is taking care of all of that for me :)

Hey,

I think sometimes it can be the shock? One day your not really exercising (well I wasn't) and then suddenly you are, I found I struggled more on the 2nd run of week 1, but then by the 3rd my body had kinda given in and it felt good.... I'm waffling! Maybe strap your ankle up? Or make sure you have trainers that support your ankle, my old ones didn't.

Well done on your 2nd run :) and 9 weeks will soon fly by!

Cheers Moonim, what sort of thing should I strap it up with? Where can you buy ankle supports, a running shop perhaps? My trainers were fitted by a running shop so I think they are ok support-wise, they are Aasics running trainers. Think the problem is as you say, asking the ankle to do a lot more than is has had to since March, not gonna stop tho as I am secretly enjoying my little jogs :)

I have to strap my knee up from time to time and went to boots, got an awesome one for a small fortune but its well worth it. Before I took up this running I used to use the tube type and it never really helped, so it is worth spending a bit of extra cash if you can.

Glad your enjoying them, I enjoy mine as it gets me out the house lol :)

I also found my second run of week 1 much harder than the first. The first run was a revelation for me...I felt so proud that I had actually done it. On my second run my feet were already hurting before I started (have not bought some good trainers which I hope will help) and I knew what was ahead. Just done run 3 of week 1 today and it was easier, the new trainers helped as did the knowledge that it was the final run of the week. Keep going :-)
