Rain + glasses = problem

I was just wondering what fellow bespectacled people do when it rains? Today was my first run wearing my specs - normally I wear contacts - and it was almost as blurry as when I went with nothing! Although I didn't fall over this time... ;)

So... Any tips?

I go without glasses on when I run, and everything is blurry!!

I don't know if a cap would keep the rain off? Probaby not.

I guess contacts are the only way.

I've run out of contacts! :O

A cap? That could work!

Thanks for the super speedy reply :)

Peaked cap works!

It does? Oh goodie - I'm sure I can find one somewhere in the house! Cheers :)

Yep peaked cap works and if you wear it on a hot day turn it around and it will keep your neck shaded from the sun.

A cap witrh a decent peak works for me too. Spend a little extra for a running specific job and you get something breathable with a built in sweat band. My last one came from eBay.

Ah I didn't think about that part. And I do get a very hot head :D

I think I'll still give it a go thought with a normal one though - just to see how it goes.

It seems the general consensus is that the peaked cap is the way to go! Thanks guys :)

I normally run with my glasses on unless its raining then i wear my contacts

personally i don't like caps because i get a hot head and a strange claustrophobia type panic!

Glad it isn't just me! I decided to run in my glasses last Monday instead of my contacts and got caught in a thunder storm, I had to remove my glasses as I couldn't see a thing! Luckily for me I was running with a friend so followed her and trusted her to warn me of any hazards I might miss. I will be sticking to contacts in future if the weather is looking dubious.

Oh blimey I hope I don't encounter any thunderstorms!

I wear glasses and generally speaking a peaked cap works. However, last week there was a fine drizzle when I went out, the sort that floats around in the wind, and it came onto my glasses so that I couldn't see where I was going!

I call this 'sort that floats around in the wind' as the rain that comes up!

You will probably think I'm mad but we had a fantastic run in the thunder storm, we both got soaked to the skin but haven't laughed so much in ages. An experience I can recommend everyone tries at least once!

Heehee I think running makes us all crazy! One of my favourites was the time I had wind, rain and hail all at once. I came home with little red bruises all over my face - when people asked I said I'd been attacked by Smurfs... The run was exhilarating!

off on a tangent now. are you off to uni in september?? x

& Ive got a baseball cap but havent had the guts to wear it yet. saving it for a rainy day that is actually chucking it down when I go out running :)

Hi Shelly!

I am indeedy - definately ready for uni now. Cardiff watch out! No. Seriously. Watch out! I may run into you :D

I've not run for weeks and weeks so it felt so good to get out again - I'm trying to get out out of my doom and gloom mood and I think running will help :)

How's it going with you?

x

Baseball cap with a large peek helps cover the specs...Good luck

My first cap was a fancy bright red one with sequins on it. I got caught in a really heavy downpour but my trusty red cap kept most of the rain off my specs. Once I was home I took the cap by the peak and gave it a good shake in the shower to get the worst of the water off it. There was a cracking sound and the peak went all limp and wobbly - ooopppss didn't like getting so wet it appeared. My new one was bought from a running shop cost a bit more but is very light weight and breathable so my head stays cool while the rest of me boils. :)

Having the same problem here. I think it's rained every run so far for me. My glasses get covered and then start slipping down my nose. Next run I think I'll just take them off, aim straight and hope I don't bump into anything.
