Would like to do my first park run soon. Just wondered, does everyone set off together?

Yes everyone at the same time as its against the clock. Most newbies seem to stand at the back, well away from the fast bodies as you could get run down (only joking). Its a lovely friendly place to be on a Saturday morning. I went down and watched my first one then walked the route after everyone had gone. I went back the next day and ran it, don't know why I needed to reassure myself I could do the distance as I had been running 5K for several weeks.

Don't forget to register a good few days before you plan on going so that you get your barcode, print it off and take it with you. You will need it once you have completed your run which is then scanned along with your token (handed to you once you've passed the finish line) which is linked to your clock time. Hope that makes sense!! Go and enjoy yourself I'm sure you will, its like being bitten by the running bug all over again :)

Everyone sets off together at 9am precisely ..Its what they base the official times on. The fasties start at the front of the pack and the (considerate) snails like me (PB 41:40 avaerage 46min run/walker) start off at the back (don't want to be trampled!).

I've volunteered a couple of times now: No matter whether you come in sub20 min or more than 50 min EVRYONE looks like a tomato in the finish funnel. There is equal respect for ability and sheer dogged deterrmination.

Its very friendly

Yes all go off together. there's a back marker in a high viz jacket who brings up the rear and marshalls along the way urging you on.

As a c25k graduate you should find there a quite a few others coming behind you but everybody is supportive and there's no stigma to being last.

Remember when you register you can put NHS c25k as your club.

Thanku everyone for their comments. Well appreciated. Didn't realise wilmacgh that I can put NHS c25k as my club.

Ah, didn't realise there was an NHS in front of c25k. Successfully registered too now (if somewhat prematurely). Will hopefully go along to spectate once or twice before it's time to take part. Thanks.
