I'll admit I was nervous about "where I'd be" after not running for an entire week, but was pleasantly surprised to find I felt pretty good. I didn't even start checking my Garmin for time/distance until the second mile...lol. You know...no matter how many times you look at it, those seconds are NOT going to go any faster! Lucky for me, our temps have dropped (only 19° this morning), and the humidity with it (63%).
I'm working on banishing all "negativity" from my runs...that means the first time I think "I can't do this" I focus instead on the scenery or the birds chirping or the person working in their yard....anything BUT how my body is feeling (especially the wonky knees). Frequently, I "write" my blog while I'm running. (The only problem with that is when I stop my Garmin, it apparently sends a signal to my brain and wipes out the entire blog.) Poof!
One more run....that doesn't seem possible. (Oh....this morning? 5K in 41:35...yeah, they're sore...but not as bad as they were. Progress...it's a wonderful thing.)

lol....you caught me! I have a 5K event on August 11th so I'm pushing for the distance rather than the time. No way I'll be doing 5K in 30 minutes any time soon.
Well done Grammadog on getting out there...I will be running when I get home this evening; I just could NOT drag myself out early this morning, and for once we have nowhere to be tonight so I knew I had a fallback time lol.
I think the whole focusing on something else to distract is a good policy; and glad it has cooled a little for you. Not long to go now!!!
knew you wouldn't be down on your knees for too long ! Welcome back, we missed you We seniors need to stick together! I find my head tells me that if I run fast, the time will soon be over- crazy when I know I'm going to have to carry on to the end of the podcast
lol...I'd be walking if I tried to run fast....right now I'm just thrilled to be out there. And you're right...we seniors do need to stick together. Knees are "better"...I could at least walk today when I finished (lol)...I bought some ankle weights and am doing some quad strengthening exercises (leg extensions).
Have you checked out my online blog "Grammagoesrunning"?
Glad you're back and reasonably happy with those 'ole knees. One more run - tantalising. Can't wait to see graduate next to your name. Virtual pom poms are at the ready!
All the best for your final run, knees are a problem but like you they wont stop me from running. Its great to have a run to focus on, then hopefully the new podcasts will be out soon,
Good luck for your final run and the 5k - sure you'll be fine, us oldies seem to have staying power! I've found a 5k locally in early September - I'm on W5 now so hopefully will have a week or two after completing the plan to work on speed/distance.
Look forward to raising a glass to celebrate your graduation!
