Get in there week 7 and how does Garmin work?

Early morning finish to week 7, (well it's early for me). Woke early on run day, couldn't get back to ๐Ÿ˜ด, so up I get and make a pot of good old Yorkshire tea and a piece of toast, I'm not one of these people who can get up and be out quick, 1 hour is very quick for me nowadays. Old git medications done out of the way, check an fill drinks bottles, one for waist pack and one to leave in the car, and I drove to the start point.Once there Tony Blackburn on, Garmin ready and C25K ready. Start Garmin then C25K, now for 5 mins walking, feeling pretty good then started the run, feels a bit hard for the first few minutes, but then settle into my stride, I always seem to push a bit for the first few minutes.

I know I always slow as the jog goes on, but this time towards the end I tried to push a bit harder. My Garmin watch works out how long you run for and how long you walk for, well for the first two runs it picked up around only 17 minutes of running but the pushing at the end increased that to just over 22, but the strange thing is that watch recorded less distance ( only 10 meters less).

Week 8 will have to wait as I'm away, I may be able to get a couple of short runs in just to keep up, maybe short and faster ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Sounds like you really made the most of that early wake up. The weather is a bit of a challenge at the moment to put it mildly. Great run for you in a lovely location.

Hope itโ€™s a good week next week. Week 8 will be ready whenever you are!

Two weeks left.. nearly there now.. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

But please.. you canโ€™t be an old git.. youโ€™re only a few months older than me and Iโ€™m just a spring chicken!

Ah yes, but saying old git is easier than saying, one legged, half deaf, asthmatic OAP.๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

Haha okay then, I guess Iโ€™m not in that club then as I only qualify on two points! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hope to get a couple of short, faster runs in to get my pace up.

Well done Pete, Week 7 - tick โœ”๏ธ

I struggle for the first few minutes - itโ€™s the toxic 10 as your body scrambles to get everything going! For me the best way to deal with it is to really slow it down for the first km. then I can gradually speed up naturally as my body warms up. This way, I can usually push a bit towards the end, although not so much at the moment because itโ€™s too hot!

Week 8 is waiting for your return! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Will run a little whilst I'm away, but shorter but faster, hopefully ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wouldnโ€™t try for faster just yet. Take care ๐Ÿ˜Š

I don't mean the same distance faster, more like very short runs similar to week one, but maybe only 30 seconds at a time, and not for 30 minutes mor like 15.

I was noticing differing distances on the same route as well and after a bit of research it appears itโ€™s quite common. Sometimes due apparently to loss of GPS signal which can happen when youโ€™re running past tall buildings or under trees. The GPS chips in the Garmins are amongst the best for the price though. Had a Fitbit Sense previously and that was shocking for GPS accuracy. Hope this sheds some light. Keep going and enjoy the journey pal ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š

Donโ€™t get hung up on differences between Garmin and distances recorded on other devices. That way lies madness. My Garmin can clock up different distances on the identical route. If you come to take part in Parkruns then you can be confident that the 5km is accurately measured.

Just enjoy!๐ŸŒž
