I'm overweight , unfit and unhealthy. I have already begun to tackle the food issues ( again) and have always wanted to be able to run. I look on with envy at those people who jog past me in the morning when i'm walking the dog , they seam so free and motivated. I did try to go running a few times over the years but each time have ended up with shin splints and given it up as something i just don't do. ( my weight probably didn't help)
I have a decen't pair of trainers some enthusiasm and through a search on the works computer found this programme. so Have downloaded it to my mp3 and am going to the local cycle path to give it a go this evening, what do i have to lose?
Lets hope it isn't another failed attempt . Will let you know how it goes .

GO FOR IT!! I'm in a similar position to you and did W4R1 this morning (on my 2nd attempt) You will feel such a buzz at the end of the podcasts that it will spur you on. Remeber to pace yourself though Good luck.
O, yes, Ladybug...just DO it! And when it gets tough, and it WILL get tough, come in here and whinge away...we've all had our turns also....lol. And nine weeks from now we'll be here to clap our hands and wave virtual pom-poms when you cross the finish line!
Ladtybug you are going to love this. It works because it breaks the runs down into managable chunks. Keep blogging. My first run was hell but when I finished I felt soo good and you will. Good luck and post after your run.
Yep I agree with RhonaL the first run was for me by far the worst one, so don't panic if you don't enjoy it and find it hard, it gets easier once the breathing is sorted out. All the best, let us know how you get on too.
good luck .most of all believe in your self you can do it .evan if you have to repeat wk 1 to help get you going . i have just done wk6 r3 a full 25 mins of jogging none stop 6wks ago i could just manage 90 seconds .
I lived!!!!! woo hoo . I did it i took the first plunge. ok so the last minute of running i was wishing the seconds would go by real quick, and the last couple of walks deffinately weren't as brisk as the first few. but i did it and i survived.
Feel very chuffed with myself and can't wait till Thursday now to see if i can do it again .
Thanks soooo much for all the support it really is helpfull.
congratulations...I spent the first week hiding round corners from people as I was so-un-fit (and red) and here I am showing of my new graduate badge! Im still red when I run but now I just dont care!
Wrong title! It should be here goes something, because once you start this one you'll finish it. It's the best, and that's how you'll feel when you finish (and you will; it's addictive!)
dont get hung up on the 9 week tag, if you feel you need to repeat a week so what, I have had to repeat all my weeks until I feel happy, it will just take me a bit longer to graduate but I WILL graduate. You will love this but be warned it becomes addictive. Good luck
Welcome and congratulayions on your first run, we all struggled with week 1, but with the support on here and laura on your runs you will do this, keep going and let us know how each run went
Well done! This is a great programme in so very many ways and reaches people (like me) who wouldn't be able to access other ways of improving fitness. I looked at it and thought "60 seconds of running? I'm prepared to risk that" and the rest days have been absolutely critical for me. A day when I don't do a session is a rest day not a day when I can't keep up. I did the NHS Expert Patient Programme online a few years ago and it was nothing like as effective as this (admittedly I was more sick then but whilst it was suggesting goals of 5 days out of 7 rather than every day, C25Ks approach is so much more appropriate)
Good luck, Ladybug, many of us felt similar when we started, and here we are, still standing (or running!). The community forum is a great support, so enjoy, and welcome to the programme!
