Can I enter and run as 5k even if I'm not yet running the distance? I was about 12 minutes short with my 28 minute run...meaning at my pace I could gage finished in 12 more minutes... What do you think?

No reason why you can't! I'd say go for it

Yes give it a try, start nice and slowly and build up your speed gradually. There is no shame if you have to walk part of it either. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

You will be surprised how the momentum will pull you along, if you don't start too fast you will probably surprise yourself at how fit you are
