My way of coping with the slight lack of motivation a few weeks after I had graduated in feb, was firstly to try my nearest parkrun, & then to sign up for a 10k (mid June) & download a training plan (free) from Runner's World website.

I havent missed a session since, have enjoyed it (with the exception of Thursday's intervals session!) & on Sunday last I ran 7 miles (the plan said to do 6!). Good luck.

There ate plenty of plans out there the hardest is figuring out whinch ones for you :-)

Do you want to:

1) go faster

2) go further

3) convert to off road

4) etc......

I even found one for aiming at a four minute mile!

Have a think about what you fancy doing with this new fitness malarkey and there will be more plans than you can shake a stick at.

Thank you both for replying. I think I will look around for plans to take me to 10 km in the longer term. For a short term plan I would like to be running 5 km in 30 mins (am around 4.8 km at the moment) I will need to look around for events to aim for but limited by location (northern isles) but am happy to just work on my own as long as there is a plan I can follow! Will take a look at runners world. Thanks again!

You are already hitting a good speed! I graduated running 7kph, meaning that i was only reaching 3.5km in the 30 min running section.

Here is another plan, the next step after C25K, its called Bridge to 10K

I followed a 10k training plan from Runners World, their website has a whole section for training plans to check out.

I joined a running club this week - I was pleased to find I wasn't out of my depth and walked less than some of the others. Might be worth looking into ?
