On a measured course of precisely 5K......

...I thought I'd see if I could improve on my previous time. It's not a route I run very often because it's 20 mins drive away. That said, it is where I started on C25K, precisely because it's 20 mins drive away and no-one I know would see me if I collopsed after 10 mins. The rest, as they say, is history and I now run close to home.

Anyway, off I went this morning, neither ambling nor trying particularly hard and waddyaknow? Only 28 mins 37 for 5K. That's pretty cool. Although in fact it wasn't; it was distinctly waaarm (as we say in The North). I was toying with just going for it and doing two laps = 10K but it was just a tad too warm. Next time, eh?

That's a good time - well done !

Too warm for me today - I was "glowing" a lot at my exercise class this evening !

Thank you; I was doing more than glowing. Sweating cobs was closer to the mark!

Yes, well done! Did it just happen or have you been doing intervals and such?

I've not consciously been doing intervals but I have been trying some longer runs (up to 45 mins) interspersed with the "normal" 30 mins, and trying to include some (mild) hills. I guess the benefits are beginning to show.

You are very inspiring oldned! I just got off my couch yesterday and will compete my week1 day2 run tomorrow (have to think positive!) how long did it take you to get to where you are now? I've signed up for a 5k race for life in mid July and I would love to be able to run the course.... But I won't have competed week 9 of the programme... But I will have to do my best and put my best toe forward and see how I go! I'm dreaming of being able to complete 5k in 30min... Sounds better than a lottery win to me!

Thank you [blushes!]. I started in the 1st week of January and graduated on 23 March (my 62nd birthday). Since then I've been consolidating that and trying to stretch it out to some longer runs.

If you've completed Wk5 Run 3 I'm sure you'll be able to do 5K; it's just more of the same. Try not to be intimidated by it. It's ALWAYS easier to stop but just remember that running is only 50% physical but 100% mental!! It worked for me (most of the time!).
