gutted and so disappointed!!!: Didn't do W6 R... - Couch to 5K
gutted and so disappointed!!!
Everyone has dips, don't worry about it. Slow down a little. If you can't manage that then drop back to week five and repeat until you're happy.
Keep going, you'll get there.
It's still a good time, bet you couldn't envisage running that far when you started. Just try again, make sure youve had plenty to drink and I agree maybe run slower . As Laura says its how long you can run for not how fast you get there
Dont feel too discouraged. I am in week 9, i managed my first thirty minutes but hurt my knee so rested a while, six days rest i went for the second run and i couldnt get past fifteen minutes. It just wasnt in me, i couldnt even do an extended walk.
Queue today... I repeated the run i failed and not only managed the full thirty minutes, i actually sprinted the last minute....
Moral of the story, dont let a bad run kill you, just come back after a days rest and try again.
Bella don't feel disapointed, we all have bad runs, next one should be good.
There's a really good book by Ruth Field called 'Run Fat B***h, Run' - in it she says that every time you run, you win, even if you consider it a 'bad' run. Don't get disheartened, just put it down to experience and look forward to the next one. I was out in the pouring rain on Wednesday, plodding along as usual and feeling quite pleased with myself for being so hardy, and got overtaken by a young guy half my age - he literally zoomed past me. I just muttered a little swear at him and carried on.
Just keep going!
SLOW IT DOWN for sure...this has happend to me and during some difficult runs I have thought that I was going so slow that I couldnt possibly slow it down, but you can...It's better to carry on at a snails pace and complete..also, eat a banana just before your run forna little enrgy that also really helps me! Stick with it..you CAN do it
I like the "every time you run, you win" line. Just go out there and win for whatever length of time you can manage. And before long it will be 25 minutes.
Hart, I tend to laugh at some of the runners who overtake me. The ones (normally youngish blokes) who aren't all that fast themselves but look odiously smug at passing someone old enough to be their mum.
Bella, like just about everyone here I can join in with the "been there, done that"
Mine was well past graduation and had a run where I had to push really hard just to get to 20 mins. All the advice here is true though, don't beat yourself up .... you did 20 mins! that's not too shabby at all!!!
Can I just say - wow you ran 20 minutes! That is fab - as someone who has just finished week one I can not imagine running that far, well done you! Bet you do it all next time but you are doing great x
thanks guys you've made me feel a lot better, going to try it again tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on......................
Good luck, you can do it, you've done fantastically well so far
