I was surprised Bella, like you that I could manage it but as you work through the week 5 you will be ready for it by the 3rd run.

good luck

You're scared -I'm on week5 and 20 mins is my next run - eeek!

Seriously tho' I found W5R1 really straightforward and much easier than W4. I did W5R2 yesterday & found it was more of a mind game than anything else. It was my mind I had to switch off as it kept telling me I'd done enough when I'd run more than 5 mins. it was really weird. So just take each run as it comes & trust Laura!

I remember being so frightened of weeks 5-9 on those early weeks. They just seemed so humungous and impossible. Try not to build it up in your mind so much, these longer runs are *mental* challenges more than physical. Take your time, pace yourself, keep breathing and do whatever it takes to keep you motivated. Use your own music, listen to a radio podcast and time yourself using other ways if necessary.

The first time I did the 8 minutes wk5r2 runs I couldn't complete the second 8 minutes. I felt awful afterwards but realised how hard I was being on myself and that my state of mind wasn't the best before I set out. It was also a different time of day. Sometimes, not doing every run perfectly is good as it's a learning experience, and you can surprise yourself when you realise how much you want to nail that run the next time you go out.

Above all, be kind to yourself and have faith in yourself and the programme. It DOES work ;-) x

You will be fine! Just believe in yourself and take it easy. Let us know how you get on!

Trust the program. The worst that can happen is that you don't complete all the runs - then you just learn from that so that you pace yourself better next time. Most likely, you'll be fine. And for what it's worth, I think the W5R3 was my favourite - just be realistic about your starting pace, it's better to start off a little slower and then have some energy and determination left to draw on as you get close to finishing. Try not to worry, concentrate on enjoying your progress :-)
