Does anyone run as early as 5am?

Yes, am afraid I have done! Sometimes it's the only time I can manage fitting in around family, animals and work. It's great running at that time of day with noone else around and I feel like I can really get my thoughts straight before the day really starts. I should say that I always run outside, with my dog and I live in a rural, seaside location in northern scotland so it's not such a hardship to get out there and there are no personal safety issues.

Does it set you up for the day?

I find it does, yes. I should say that I am a 'morning person' though. Early morning really is just 'me time' and I can plan my day so I quickly get into a rhythm with my running (I completed W6r1 this morning) because I am thinking about something other than running. I do run in the evenings too because it is a case of fitting things in as and when but I prefer early morning.

Not a chance in hell for me! I work to midnight roughly 3 times a week though and take medication that likes me to sleep for at least 12 hours a day so I am no longer a morning person!

I imagine it would be a very peaceful time to run though :)

Not quite 5am, but the alarm goes 5.15 and i'm out by 5.30! I live in a town centre so run the roads around there and its fine and I like it coz it's quiet. It does set me up for they day...even when i've had a 'bad' run.

I so wish I could do the very early morning running. The earliest I've managed is 9.30 so far!! I'm a night owl by nature so I find late afternoon my optimal time to run ;-)

I'm sorry but that is not a time, it's a concept and possibly not real :)

I used to think of myself as a late afternoon/evening exercise person but have worked on getting out earlier on my days off. I knew I wouldnt be able to fit in my mid week run if I didn't do it before work, so happy to report that I can now get up and out by 6.15 on the days I need to. It helps that it is now light by then, and I dont take my mp3 player as I enjoy the birdsong so much!
