Hey, does anyone still train on rest days, in the gym, classes etc?
What to do on "rest days": Hey, does anyone... - Couch to 5K
What to do on "rest days"
No I don't do nuffink guvnor
Rest day for me!
Some people do other stuff like cycling or swimming, but I just walk the dog because I find it has an impact on the running otherwise. I think you can do other sports as long as it is not weight bearing (ie. give the knees a rest!)
I do yoga and a keep-fit class (circuit type stuff) and go to the gym. I'm planning on doing some cycling too. I try to average the recommended 10,000 steps a day (I include my running in that) that's meant to keep you healthy
Thanks all!
Have you all noticed the difference health and weight wise?
I've lost about 4lb so far - W5R3 tomorrow. I'm noticing that I'm recovering more quickly from runs. The biggest change, to be honest, is in my mental outlook. I get a lot less stressed, sleep better and really enjoy the exercise , rather than just seeing it as a means to an end. I've also cut right down on the prescription drugs I was given for fibromyalgic symptoms.
Hi all, just thought I'd dive in to say that experts recommened that you should try to balance aerobic exercise with exercises that improve our strength and flexibility. Yoga, gym workout etc - they all deliver on that. We're working on a new podcast series designed to deliver this strength & flexibility component - without the need for equipment - that you can do on your 'days off' from running. I'll share more soon!
oooooh sounds interesting. laura, I dont have an iphone or anything with an i in it so will all the podcasts be available for mp3 like C25K is? & will you be able to get them through this site? I recently tried to download itunes onto my laptop & it crashed it, both times I tried.
I am really enjoying the male audiofuel music. it just takes my mind away from running. when you listen to the music standing still its a bit repetitive but when running it makes complete sense. I like running at 160bpm. looking forward to the next podcasts.
I swim on my rest days, weight wise I've lost 4lbs since I started C25K, but I'd already lost 2 stone before starting, so the weight is coming off more slowly now but it's going in the right direction!
Looking forward to the next podcast!
I get lots of walking in my normal work day (I work in a BIG school and also walk 15 mins each way to the station every day) so it all keeps moving in between. In fact I hate sitting still for too long cos my knees start to seize up! But I was initially going to the gym a couple of times a week in between runs - just stopped temporarily because I was very busy and also concentrating on getting up to the time/distance for my Sport Relief 3 miles. Back to the gym now for me!!
I try not to run any but at first it was hard not too. Now I try to do some type of cardio but nothing real strenuous. I have a knee that likes to give me trouble when I least expect it and praying that doesn't happen with the running. I actually look forward to each day too!!!
Zumba!
I go to the gym on the days im not doing C25K at the moment.
The Strength and Flex workout plan is now live on NHS Choices
