Thank heavens for running!

Well I am half way through my second week of hell at work, but managing to keep up the running, really short staffed and the manager is on holiday so muggins here is picking up loads of extra work.Coming home to runs has definitely been a great release, today I was close to boiling over. Was going to run outside tonight but couldn't face it,so did the third beyond c25k, won't spoil it by saying what it is for those yet to get there, but the first 10 minutes or so I found really hard, as I have with other runs, not physically but believe it is mental, not being a runner for most my life i think my brain is still saying 'feet up tv on' but not doing that anymore. Found myself singing 5 minutes from the end, which surprised me.

Saturday just gone i managed my first run on the Norfolk broads, ran a horseshoe path between Stalham and Sutton, dry path and relatively flat, did 15 minutes out and 15 back so happy with that, still getting used to running outside.

Will be doing my 2nd Parkrun on Saturday, same one as before but not out to beat my time, just getting to the end will be reward enough.

The journey continues.

Work overload is not good, but well done for keeping on running! When work gets hard, I also find that running gives me that “me-space”, and the endorphins help to keep me happy throughout the week.

Happy 2nd parkrun !

You are doing brilliantly! I do so understand about the feet up, tv on! I didn't start to run until I was 64 and it's taken me a long time to feel like a runner. I think I do now, six years in, slow maybe but it has eventually become part of my identity. I still feel slightly embarrassed by it somehow, never having been the sporty girl, but after some time of feeling too old, too slow etc I now think I am a runner, just an old, slow one!!

It's great when running gives you that release, I'm still building back up so haven't got there yet, but that 'floating' feeling where it's just you is an absolute drug. Well done on committing to it, after hard graft that's the biggest battle of all to get changed and get out. I'm doing my Beyond week next week so will be interested to see what you think of it

well done! Love the sound of the Norfolk run

Hope your work improves - how you manage to run after such stressful day I don’t know. Greater willpower than I have ! I’ve made the mistake of sitting down on getting home and my running intentions so far this week have evaporated within 5 mins. I’m also doing the beyond runs opting currently for the shortest interval ones.

Look forward to hearing how your park run goes

Great post thank you and sorry about your work schedule at the moment. I’m just starting Beyond C25K. I’m not at the ‘I’m a runner’ stage yet and I’m looking forward to the time when I don’t have to remind myself today is a running day!

Norfolk broads are beautiful — enjoy your next park run!
