W6… ✅

R3 was horrendous. 😬 Teetered on the edge of throwing the towel in for most of the 25 minutes… not sure how but managed to trudge my way round just thinking about one foot in front of the other. Dreading what ‘duration’ runs W7 is bringing…

Back to more routine matters, weekly landmark this meek is missing (sorry!). Diary commitments kept me away from my usual circuit to one’s a little more austere so here is a pick of some geese (or swans? - maybe that can be the challenge question this week although they are far away? 😁)

Expect to be back on the well trodden path for W7 so hopefully can share a new landmark at the end of the week!

Have a good week all.

It's strange how a run can seem impossible even if you have run them before, but then when you feel rubbish, tired and not sure you can be bothered you can have a great run. Through my journey I don't think I felt the same twice, my worst run? Wk9 run 3, obviously knew i could do it, run it twice before, but I suppose the end in sight was too much excitement and I puffed and huffed the whole run! Go figure!

It’s a little fuzzy but I’d say swan??🦢

I do think that at this stage of the programme, mindset becomes more important. As the runs get longer, those gremlins can start telling us we can’t do it…but you absolutely can! I find using a mantra can help on runs like this - my favourite is “I’ve got this!”

Also, try slowing down a little now that the runs are longer. You will find your speed improves naturally as you progress.

Good luck.🙂

well it’s not seven swans a swimming as we are beyond Christmas. I’m doing this run on Tuesday and today’s run I screwed up - managed it but not ideal, so thank you for reminding me that I need to think about it carefully. You did it though and that’s the best thing you didn’t let the running gremlins get you. W6 was always the one that got me - and I’ve done it at least four times overall. It’s weird it shouldn’t because frankly you did 20 minutes in W5 but remember it’s in the head not the legs…

Maybe it was the lack of a landmark to tease us that put you off balance….

You’ll be back on song and stronger as a result - every run teaches us something - even if we didn’t know we needed to learn it
