Well, I did it! But gosh that first and last 5 minutes were a struggle.
I kept bartering with myself that went something like this:
"I need to stop."
"Okay, what's wrong?"
"Well err.."
"Breathing okay, legs okay?"
"Well yes. But..."
"You need to stop."
"Yes."
"Well when do you need to stop?"
"Not right now this second, I just can't possibly do this, so let's just stop now."
"Okay. Well let's keep going until you absolutely have to stop."
"Okay."
Reader, I did not ever absolutely have to stop. But gosh it was good to do so when the 25 min mark came along! π
As some of you know, I run in the gym, so distracting myself is not as easy as you breezey outdoor runners, but I did so today by holding my headphones when things got really tough so that the music was a touch louder, or looking down (only sometimes, was conscious of my posture, don't worry) and marveling at the action of my feet, running and running, and running, or visualising myself running a half marathon, which is something I've recently decided I would like to be my final goal on this running journey (even though I'm fully aware it may take years.)
Anyway, did not think I would be able to do this, but isn't it amazing how all it takes is one run to be that much more improved? Hoping the next 3 x 25 minute-ers will be a tad easier. Anyone?
