Back at the start of 2021 I was at the fittest I had ever been. I had lost over 7 stone, regular running 10K or further, and could run a half marathon distance when I wanted.
Then I damaged the tendons and ligaments in my right knee. (Rugby coaching injury!) A big set back. Towards the end of 2021, I was starting to work myself back to regular 5k runs, and severely damaged my left ankle tendons and ligaments (another rugby coaching incident involving a rabbit holeā¦).
This took its toll, I put weight back on, and did no exerciseā¦.
My left ankle sorted itself out quite quickly with some physio, my right knee continued to cause me issues. Finally, after a visit to my Doctor he told me the news straight - yes there are a few issue with your knee, but the main issue is all the weight youāve put back on.
So here I am. A guy who has lost 7 stone, put 7 stone back on, and lost 3.5 againā¦
Iām starting to feel good with my runs, and I hope to complete my C25K around Xmas. š
Taking it steady with my knee, but would love to be close to a half Marathon again for May next year!
Just wanted to post and share my journey. Looking forward to sharing some positive graduation news at the end of the month! š
