On the up, again! W5R3 completed. šŸ‘

Back at the start of 2021 I was at the fittest I had ever been. I had lost over 7 stone, regular running 10K or further, and could run a half marathon distance when I wanted.

Then I damaged the tendons and ligaments in my right knee. (Rugby coaching injury!) A big set back. Towards the end of 2021, I was starting to work myself back to regular 5k runs, and severely damaged my left ankle tendons and ligaments (another rugby coaching incident involving a rabbit holeā€¦).

This took its toll, I put weight back on, and did no exerciseā€¦.

My left ankle sorted itself out quite quickly with some physio, my right knee continued to cause me issues. Finally, after a visit to my Doctor he told me the news straight - yes there are a few issue with your knee, but the main issue is all the weight youā€™ve put back on.

So here I am. A guy who has lost 7 stone, put 7 stone back on, and lost 3.5 againā€¦

Iā€™m starting to feel good with my runs, and I hope to complete my C25K around Xmas. šŸ‘

Taking it steady with my knee, but would love to be close to a half Marathon again for May next year!

Just wanted to post and share my journey. Looking forward to sharing some positive graduation news at the end of the month! šŸ†

I admire your grit and determination. Essential traits that are required to succeed at this running adventure. Are you still involved with the rugby coaching? I wish you well on your journey and have no doubt that you will achieve your ambitions. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Still coach Rugby. Hoping with my rebuilding fitness to do my England Rugby Refs course. Currently settling for running the line during matches, just check for any ground imperfections before I do!
