Managed to clock up two more runs since my last post. Both 25 mins (W6R3 and W7R1), which seemed like quite a step up.
With the storms and rain we've had, during both runs, I've had to change my route. On Monday my usual running paths were completely under water, so I had to detour and just did loops around the local country park. Today a similar story, I got so far along my normal route before being faced with a huge puddle. I had to decide if I wanted to carry on through it and then run with wet feet, or just double back on myself and try an alternative route. I went with the dry feet option. Ultimately I ended up doing loops again, like Monday, but at least I got out there (today I didn't want to go out the door). There we actually moments where the sun shining off the flood water was quite stunning (see photo).
Two good runs really - a few mental struggles which I manged to battle through and physically I'm holding up OK (a little sore in my calves and ankles - but will rest up before my next run).
I hope your week is going well. On to two more 25 minute runs for me.

What a lovely photo! Hopefully the flood waters clear soon so you can get back to one of your usual routes, I always found a big singular loop better than doing laps for my longer runs back in the day to keep it more interesting.
You’re doing great though, wishing you all the best for your up-coming runs 💪🏼 graduation really isn’t that far away now!!
Thanks Laura, I'm not so keen on looping round and round either. I prefer the change in scenery too, with one big route that brings me back on time. The park is pretty flat though - so that can be a plus!!
Thanks man. I feel like I'm getting there, although not smashing it! I'm so much slower than I was 3 years ago!
I know I told you not to worry about the times, and they'll come, and I'm going to have to listen to my own advice, but I'm about a minute per km slower than I was. Must stop being so competitive!! 🤣
Good luck with your next run when you get the chance 👍
Yeah I know that feeling 😂 but I have to accept I'm a few years older and a fair few lbs heavier than I was 3 years ago so breaking PBs for speed is unlikely 😂😂 I can see the changes happening in my body even though the weights not shifting as quickly as I like but I'm feeling fitter and still feel I've got quicker times in me, maybe when I drop another 12-14lbs in weight those PBs may be achievable again 🤔🤞🏻. If not though I'm still happy to be getting fitter and to be able to enjoy running again, I think ya actually appreciate it a bit more when running a bit slower anyway! I'd still love to break those PBs though 😂😂😂 don't think il ever lose that need to be competitive.
Your doing great, your times will get there as you get fitter and run for longer👍🏻
