Hi everyone just back from a brilliant two weeks holiday now to get motivated for a 5k on the 20th October . Just wanted to know I have done a 5k before and was running regularly before I went between 3.5k and 4k. I always find that last 1 k the hardest .
I am definitely not the fastest runner and always find before i can do this but then I find when I start running i keep wanting it to end lol
I do find when I am finished it is the best feeling ever .
Any tips to gain more confidence please

🍏So pleased you have had a good holiday & looking to prepare now for your 5K. The best way to motivate and help yourself is a running plan. Have you tried the free Nike Run Club App?? Many of us use their plans or their guided runs. They have a specific training plan for 5K which I have used personally.
Maybe you're starting your 5k runs too quick. It's very easy to get carried away by enthusiasm at the start, so that the end is a struggle.Garmin watches have a feature on the app called Pace Setter Pro. You can set a distance and the time you want to do it in the play with the pace you need to do to achieve it. Great fun.
Another shout out for the NRC app. There are lots of guided 5ks which will get you thinking about your pace, your form and lots of other stuff too.
It’s difficult to advise without knowing what you do. Maybe you’re running 3 times a week? You might be trying to run too fast for your current fitness levels. One suggestion is not to push yourself for a while. Maybe do some intervals once a week or so where you push yourself for a limited time, but for the other 2 runs just run at a pace where you know you can keep going. Even if it’s slow! In time, you’ll get faster as your fitness improves and you can start to push yourself towards the end of a run. I’m a slow runner, too and this is exactly what I do.
Do strength training on the days you don’t run.
If you want to go ahead with the 5K you have planned, then you could ‘Jeff’ it, i.e. run faster for a limited time and take walking breaks. Personally, Jeffing doesn’t work for me all the time as it eventually took away my ability to keep going. But pushing yourself too hard for a 5K you may not be ready for isn’t doing you, or your confidence, any good. Better to start really slowly and build up so that your last km is your best one!
Running slowly may be what you need to enjoy those runs, especially if you’re running somewhere scenic 😊
