Post graduate blues - ligaments!!

Having completed my graduation run last Sunday I was elated. But I’m back down to earth with a bump and a possible knee ligament injury. Not only am I in considerable discomfort, especially when weight bearing or standing for too long, I’ve also got what I can only describe as withdrawal symptoms in not being able to run. The only saving grace is it’s so hot.

I’m seeing a physiotherapist this coming week and I’m really hoping I’m not going to be out of action for much longer. I’m assuming I’ll have to go back and do intermittent walking/running again before I tackle 5k. As I’m a new runner does anyone have any advice?

I’m in the same boat as you, Bev_Beeti. Finished C25K two/three weeks ago and have been on IC ever since with thigh issue. It is getting better but pain comes back whoever I attempt to run. I never thought I’d be so miserable at not being able to go for a run, but like you, don’t know how I’d manage to run in this heat. Good luck with physio - I was told by Dr to try shorter distances & to take it easy. 🙂

So many of us on the IC currently.. we could form a little club of our own... poor you!

See what the Physio says and we will take it from there:)

Thanks - physio tomorrow but it’s feeling a bit better today and I managed a longish walk at lunchtime. It’s like you call a plumber and the tap stops dripping. Not taking any risks though and still seeing the physio as he may be able to help with some strengthening exercises to stop it happening again.
