Hi. I have re-srarted C25k (again!) and got to week 8, no real problems, but today, whether it was the ridiculous heat we have, even first thing in the morning, or or not, but I need to walk twice for a minute or so while I took on water. I have Cerebral Palsy mildly so running is harder anyway and my husband insists I run on a treadmill because of falls. But when you have to wait to cross a road, does that count? Just wondering if I try again Friday, when it is a little cooler and managed the run, whether I need to re-do the run again ?!
Thanks for all your wonderful advise as always.

Congratulations! You might get different answers to this, but I would absolutely count that run as a win and move on. It’s really hard in tbe heat at the moment. I’ve been walking during all my runs. I’ve never managed to eat or drink while running and always walk for that!
It’s up to you though-if you’d feel more confident repeating the run, that’s a totally valid choice too.
You’ve done brilliantly-enjoy those final programme runs and get ready to celebrate when you cross that final finish line. Whether it’s the first of the fiftieth time, it’s always an achievement!
Thank you I used to be able to run and drink at the same time - and still can when my right leg behaves, but today it played up a lot. How I never fell is beyond me! But that is the main reason for running - keep any muscle I have to keep my mobility as long as I can.
Welcome back and well done! I totally agree with MissUnderstanding .. I have been having a walk over these last runs, and crossing roads really doesn't figure with me, I have still done the run:)
If you need a little walk then you need a little walk, especially when it's this hot. It's more important to keep hydrated and get through the run feeling human than to hold yourself to some abstract standard. I'd count this run as completed. Part of running is knowing that sometimes it's necessary to slow down or even stop. If you want to do it again for your own satisfaction then why not, it's up to you.
hello NickiCS …welcome back to c25k…you’ve got so far in the heat!! So deserves a big pat on the back!!
I would absolutely count that’s as a run…stopping to cross the road is the safest option to be honest 😉 and it’s not like you bent over double for 10 minutes is it?? Absolutely move on…the heat is hard to run in and you’re nailing it so far 💪
I have to manage 8 road crossings on my long run (it is an out and back) and often have to stop to avoid cars. My running apps go into auto pause for those; all just part of the run….you are doing brilliantly. I walk when I drink too( people do that all the time in races; there is often a bit of a queue for drinks anyway ) 🙂.
Thank you. 6km in this heat is outstanding. Well done! I think I ran about 3km and that, for me, is amazing. When I think about those triathlon runners yesterday - just wow!
hi there! Ditto all of the above…..don’t forget you’re also building stamina and time on your legs….it all counts….sometimes I go out with a time in mind rather than specific distance/running, e.g, I want to be out for 30 minutes, so I go as far as I can in whatever mode for (I aim to run, mostly it’s slow, sometimes slower, sometimes a few walking steps…. 15 minutes then turn back….)
I’ve been out, I’ve exercised, all a win in my book….and move on…
Don’t knock it, you’re doing great 👍

ps I was out before 6am the other day and that was already getting hot and humid! 🥵
Thank you! Definitely better than doing no exercise, for sure. And something is better than nothing, right? Even if it wasn't your best run. The heat is silly. I look like a beetroot even in winter after a run, never mind in this heat. Still, it is supposed to cool down a bit from the weekend.
Thank you. All the other times I have completed all the runs fine, but I'm not getting any younger so that won't help, but the weather is definitely affecting me. I'll be glad when it cools down a bit
