Week 5 into 6

Good afternoon all. This is my first post here so be gentle! I was wondering if anyone struggled with run 1 of week 6? For some reason I'm finding this hard after doing 20 minutes at the end of week 5 and can't understand why. Just briefly, I'm doing this after losing 6 stone in weight, I still have a way to go but I need to improve my fitness alongside my weight loss. I don't get much time to get on here so please accept my apologies I advance if acknowledgement of replies is slow, I'm not being rude.

You are not being rude, congratulations on completing weeks 1 to 5 and run 1 of week 6 of C25K, run 1 of week 6 catches out a lot of runner's after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 because it's back to interval walks and runs, run 2 of week 6 is the last run with interval walks and runs, from run 3 until the final run of week 9 it's all running with no walking breaks, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 6 ✔️✔️🏃🏾

Yes… It was the same for me and also pretty surprising at the time. There are more experienced runners in the community than me who are better placed to comment. ….but my feeling is that anything less than 10 minutes always feels more difficult ( referred to as the toxic ten) even once you are running for much longer. Once I accepted the fact that the first 8-10 mins are not so enjoyable even for experienced runners then I felt better about it!

Hope this helps.

It is as AlMorr says.. it catches folk out, but is just another step forward moving you on... sometimes the runs are about more than running:) Slow and steady as you go and enjoy!

I think we all have. Confidence is sky high after the 20 minute run ( well done by the way) so maybe run a bit too quick or strong than normal and get tired quicker. Stick at it, slow it down and you’ll smash it

I just got back from the same run and the same experience! I have no advice, but was comforted by your post and the replies. Btw I think you’re definitely a runner 😊

We get this question all the time! I had a horrible time. Went off like a rocket, ran out of puff. The interval was messed up my rhythm, and I thought I’d forgotten how to run. Spoiler alert-I hadn’t!

You’ve inspired a brand new thread where hopefully lots of people might share how they found this week so others will feel less alone if they struggle. I’ll put up the link here…

Hopefully there’ll be some responses soon. You might even be the first if you share your story!

Hello,

Well done on completing Week 5. I'm pretty new here, but it seems that Week 6 Run 1 is notorious for throwing people a bit.

For me, it was the confidence of Week 5 Run 3 - 20 minutes and then finding the intervals of the next run more difficult. Didn't make sense until I read more about other folks' experience here.

Good evening everyone. I'm hoping this is how i thank everyone collectively as im a bit of a technophobe! Thank you so much for all the positive replies. I genuinely feel so much more positive that it's not just me, I should have realised that a group of people who have been or are there would have positive vibes as my weight loss is thanks to sw group support(and stubbornness) so genuinely thank you all, I'm running w6r2 this evening and I'm going to be thinking of the replies. Never give up and keep smiling
