Juggling life/ work with running schedule!!!

Hello! I’m about to start week 6! I’ve always been pretty fit throughout my adult life. This is my first proper consistent running journey. I’m loving it so far BUT I don’t always have time to find rest days in between runs so end up running for 3 consecutive days. Is this bad? Should I be better with my schedule?

It’s really difficult. As a newbie, you really do need those rest days, especially as the run duration steps up. I’d run on day 1 and 3 and do some strength training on the middle day. That will be brilliant for your running anyway and it’s a good habit to get into. The programme will end up taking you longer but it’s better than ending up injured.

Good luck with the rest of the programme! You’ve done brilliantly so far and you’ve got loads to feel proud of,

Finding time can be demanding, awkward, tiring, hard, all the bad ones. However, if you run on consecutive days in your formative stage you will almost certainly get injured and then there won’t be any running at all for a while.

Although you can’t feel it at first, running causes micro tears in your muscles, tendons and ligaments and that can only be mended through gaps between the runs, no other way. As you get stronger you’ll be able to run day after day but that may take up to a year, depending on your body and in that we are all different, some take more some less.

You should rather miss one run than link two runs together!

I had been asking about consecutive runs as well as I start a 10K programme and someone much wiser than I mentioned making the week longer than 7 days to fit in those rest days between runs...

I agree with everyone here that you'll need those rest days as you start running Weeks 7, 8, and 9.

Best of luck!!! You've got this...

The rest days whilst completing the C25K programme are absolutely essential, as  MissUnderstanding says :)
