Back to 5min intervals today ☹️

Well after last week’s session where I felt pain in my Achilles again I decided that I would do intervals again for a while and see how it went. So this morning after the school rush I set of and did W5R1 again. It was a bit painful at first but then seemed to settle so I think for the time being I’ll do this little run and see how I go. Heel is a bit tender now but not excruciating. And a little run is a little run even intervals count I think🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I know how hard it is to rest once you have started on your running journey and I too have been guilty of running with an injury and regretted it afterwards. And I’m sure plenty of others have too. Please be careful and don’t overdo things.

But well done on WANTING to run even though you were hurt. If you have to take an extra day or two to rest, then do, and then carry on but you don’t want to turn a little niggle into a full blown tear. My son is currently hobbling about with his ankle taped up due to running with a “ slightly sore Achilles”.

Read some good advice from our legendary Oldfloss

You are doing well but need to rest that foot so a little problem doesn’t become a bigger issue!! While I rested mine using ice packs on and off as prescribed by physio was really helpful in getting that inflammation to settle.

It’s wonderful that you are doing so well & you will definitely finish the program if you take care now now! Xx

Well done Scruff55 ! I’ll just point out for the benefit of anyone who doesn’t know you that you’ve had clear advice about how much pain is acceptable for how long during your run and you’re being looked after by a lovely physio, I had the same coming back-my knee was allowed to hurt a bit but not above a certain level and only during the start of my runs. Just keep following that personalised, expert advice and you won’t go far wrong!

I too was given an acceptable level of discomfort after a calf injury...by my Physio.

Good on you for percevering, any type of run counts, most of my runs are intervals of a sort, I follow a run-walk-run strategy, and following that I even made it to 10k, keep at it and win your way😀💪
