I waited all day for a break in the weather and you guessed it there wasn’t one. Desperation for a run eventually got the better of me this evening so after an early light supper, I headed down towards the ocean! The only people out and about were these two desperate dog walkers (the dog was running way ahead of them) & a few keen runners on the prom. The sounds of rain and pounding waves were awesome. The sheer force of nature emphasised by the wind made me feel alive and glad to be part of this wild evening. I know in my heart that only running would give me this gift as I am a fair weather walker! Somehow as I move in the timeless rhythm a sense of joy and peace flood my soul. I am obviously past the toxic ten as I now want to run forever! Soon it’s the half way mark in my run & I pick up the pace a wee bit… must leave enough energy to finish strong. I leave the coast & wander back up through the little park sticking to the paved paths to avoid slipping and sliding. It’s been raining heavily for 3 days now. The glorious Easter Saturday & Sunday a pipe dream! I make my way through suburbia & start looking forward to the hot shower that awaits! It’s misty and murky now. No one out but mad me..A last strong effort & the welcome mat beckons! I am home. 4k run done! Yes!

Great photo - looks very wild! Sounds like a perfectly paced run though and exhilarating, very inspiring!
Great run Annieapple ! I know what you mean about being out in the elements - this photo was actually last Thursday but could equally have been taken today. Unlike you though I categorically do not like running in such weather but I do love walking Ebony on the beach when it’s like that!
Luckily, this morning there seemed to be a lull in the wind so I ventured out for a lovely run with Coach B. He always gives me lots to think about and despite not exactly being enthusiastic about a run this morning, it felt good. Even better when, from the comfort of a post run feet up and cuppa on the sofa, I could observe the heavens opening and wind squalling again. Perhaps I’ll have to brave a quick run along the prom next time it’s as wild - probably won’t have to wait long!!
Now that is an amazing photo. I love it. Thank you! I put off going out when it’s raining.. it’s only the desperation for a run that gets me out & then the love happens🤣I agree with you it’s even better post run with a hot cuppa !!
I love this, you’ve summed it up perfectly well -
“The sounds of rain and pounding waves were awesome. The sheer force of nature emphasised by the wind made me feel alive and glad to be part of this wild evening”.
I remember going out just to feel the power of nature and felt incredibly connected (mind, l won’t go out and face a forest destroying gale, I’m not THAT connected 😉). One of such runs was Brighton to Hove in mad weather and an unforgettable summer storm holiday experience along the Croatian coast.
We run for such moments ❤️!
Just wind, wet and as you say, wonderful...Nature in the raw, and you a part of it... Well done you! x
Very brave to take on that weather challenge. Great photo too.
