I am one run away from completing the program hip hip hurray... but the longer runs have caused a new niggle.

Im comfortably running (or rather jogging) for 30 minutes now which is fantastic ✨🙌✨ this is what dreams are made of. Im so very pleased. However, a new niggle has developed in the top of my right foot after these longer runs. Funnily enough during my run I feel nothing uncomfortable, but after my run the top of my right foot starts feeling stiff and a little sore. Has anyone else experienced this? Not sure if I need to start stretching the tops of my feet before and after a run too. Or, if I need to possibly tie my laces tighter or looser. I must admit I have not opened the lacing since I started my running journey. I am one of those naughty people who just stuff my foot in the trainer without undoing the laces 😂 I am still on my treadmill as the weather here is still not fantastic although it has got a lot warmer thankfully 😊

🍏Congratulations getting this far! 😊

In writing this I think you may have worked out what it may be! As a runner your feet have a very important job to do and the slightest niggle needs to be given attention. Have you had a gait analysis to ensure you are wearing the correct trainers? Do you have good socks. Your sports shop can help with both those things. Try soaking those feet daily in some Epsom salts for a while… wiggling those toes. If it’s anything more than a niggle it’s best to see a sports physio or GP. Hope this helps and enjoy your final run! Look forward to pinning your badge soon!!

Do try the re lacing and do undo your running shoes, when putting them on.

On the NRC run app... Coach Bennet has this advice..

First, make sure your shoes aren't too loose or too tight . To achieve the optimal tightness, slip your shoes on and tighten the laces from the bottom rung first. Then you can slowly make your way up the shoe, tightening as you go.

When you're actually tying your bow. CB recommends dorsiflexing your foot, or flexing your foot toward your face for the perfect fit. This will help you keep that snug-yet-not-too-snug sizing intact. I use this method... and I make sure my feet are feeling comfortable before I begin to head out.

Well done you, and soon, you will be able to get out there, and try out your newly laced running:)

Congratulations on reaching wk9, huge achievement 👏🏻🏃‍♀️

I would try loosening your laces because your feet might be swelling during the longer runs and it might help to try some foot/ankle rotations in both directions before and after your runs.
